Teaching in Tennessee!

With many thanks and gratitude to my mother for her leg work to help make this happen and to Kathy from Spring Creek Quilts for hosting me, I am excited to announce that I will be teaching a 3-hour Wayward Transparency class (or 2 classes if enough people are interested) in Cookeville, Tennessee, on Thursday, April 12th. All the details are below.

Who: Yvonne from Quilting Jetgirl

What: 3 hour Wayward Transparency Quilt Class

When: 9am, Thursday, April 12th (up to 14 students – if first class fills, a second class starting at 1pm will open)

WhereSpring Creek Quilts3900 Cookeville Highway in Cookeville, TN

Cost: $17.50 per student

How to Register: Call Spring Creek Quilts at 931-498-3473 to sign up.

Class Description: Learn how to evaluate fabric choices for transparency overlay and about how the visual relationship between different colors, print sizes, and tones can be balanced in your quilts by working through the Wayward Transparency quilt pattern. Traditional piecing techniques will be explored, with additional insights into precision piecing and how to work with directional fabrics.

Note: Physical patterns are being mailed to Tennessee this week to be available for pick up. Due to the limited class time, it would be ideal if participants could come to class with fabrics selected and cut, so for any questions, do not hesitate to reach out to me via email: yvonne(at)quiltingjetgirl(dot)com.

Ooh, I’m going to check my calendar to see if I can make it work. We’re between houses in Nashville and Crossville, plus I have a broken ankle and can’t drive myself so it needs to work with hubby’s schedule. Is it OK if I let the modern guild members know about this?

  2. Kate says:

    Sounds like fun.

  3. This is great, Yvonne! I hope it goes well. Wayward Transparency is such a fun quilt to make, it will work well in a class setting.

This is cool, Yvonne. I am sure you will make a great teacher and hope you have a fun time running the class. Your three versions look very enticing all lined up that.

Wish I was closer! I would love to take a class from you!

  10. Have fun. That’s a great price for a class.

  11. That’s great Yvonne! Just don’t underestimate your time and craft as an artist and sell yourself short. I’d expect a 3-hour class like that cost around $20-$25 at a guild or quilt shop level. Of course, I’m sure I’m not seeing the whole picture either, with what they are probably paying for travel and expenses. Regardless, have fun! I wish Tennessee were closer.

  12. Sounds fun! I wish I was close enough to take part 🙂

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
