2018 Finished Quilts, Quilt Pattern

Fletched Quilt and Patreon Pattern Releases

Today is an exciting day: I am releasing two quilt patterns! Also, this serves as a quick heads up: there will be another pattern release later this week and a fourth pattern release on February 19th. It’s going to be a busy pattern month.

Fletched is a “secret pattern” that I have had created for over a year that I finally get to publicly share with you today.

I created the Fletched quilt pattern as my 2017 Patreon pattern, and as such it was only available to those who signed up to support me via Patreon for $1 per month.

Fletched

Fletched

Fletched is a quilt block based design, and the way the block interacts with itself makes for very fun secondary design options depending on the layout you choose. I offer many different layout options for baby, lap, and queen size quilts but the possibilities are only limited by your imagination!

I made the lap size version of the quilt and chose to use fabrics inspired by Valentine’s Day. Fletching is defined as the feathers on an arrow, and I felt like the combination of the name of the design and upcoming holiday were the perfect inspiration for selecting my block placement as well: each quadrant forms a heart.

I used 50wt Aurifil in 2535 (Magenta) to quilt a loose all over loop pattern. The main solid for the quilt is Kona Cerise, and the two blenders were fabrics I purchased from my local quilt shop. The binding is an Alison Glass Sunprint, and the backing is a print by Sarah Maxwell.

The public release of the Fletched quilt pattern also marks the release of my 2018 Patreon secret pattern. To celebrate the public release of these quilt patterns, Fletched and the 2018 Patreon secret pattern (which is great for fat quarter bundles!) will be on sale in my shop for $8 through Friday, February 9th.

  1. Congratulations on the release Yvonne! What a striking color combination. I see the hearts now, at first glance, I saw a plus sign. 🙂

  2. Congrats Yvonne! This is a lovely pattern, I had trouble seeing the hearts at first. I too only saw the plus sign.

  3. Alison says:

I love this! I think it would be really fun in some desert-y colors to make it look slightly tribal as well. 😀

This is really so striking! Both your design and chosen fabrics are inspired. Congrats on the release!

  5. This is gorgeous – I really love the way this block moves around the quilt and that those flying geese appear when the edges meet. It is a lovely tribute to valentines day. The quilting pattern, too, is just perfect on this. Was this freehand or a pantograph? I never feel that I can do the “panto-like” freehand, maybe just not enough courage. I need to add this to my list of things to try on a benefit quilt or smaller quilt.

You must love the dark pink colorways, and so do I! It is really beautiful, and I love the secondary designs that come out. I saw the plus sign first, and then immediately saw the hearts. Congrats on a lovely pattern!

  8. Wonderful pattern Yvonne!! Love the secondary patterns – 🙂

  9. Audrey says:

Perfect quilt for Valentine’s Day. Your colors are so bold and bright. Congrats on the pattern release. Hope you month isn’t so busy that you can’t fit in some relaxation time to play with more fabric.

  13. Patty says:

  14. Elizabeth E. says:

Congratulations on the all the releases of your (this and upcoming) patterns–you’ve been really busy, and your industry has paid off in a wonderful design. Kudos to you!

  15. Kaja says:

Lovely strong colours – perfect for the time of year of course, but I could happily look at this year round. I like how you have used a traditional starting point but done your own clever thing with it.

  16. Congrats on a very eye-catching design!

  17. Another great pattern. Well done.

  18. I didn’t notice the third colour at first. Silly me! This is going to be another fun design to watch being reinterpreted by people who buy your pattern!

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
