Christmas and the few days after are always a big family time for me, because today (12/26) is my husband’s birthday(!!), and tomorrow (12/27) is our anniversary. We’ve been having a cozy time at home, so I’ve been able to get in just a little bit of sewing most days, though. If I’m going to carve out time to sew at this time of year, I want it to be special.
I took 4 days and put together 12 Perkiomen Valley blocks to send to the Ventura Modern Quilt Guild for Thomas Fire Relief Quilts. The fire is now the worst in California history, and I hope these 12 blocks can do some small part in helping people who have lost so much in this holiday season.

I will get these blocks in the mail in the next few days. The blocks go together very quickly; it always took me longer to make my fabric selections and cut the fabrics than it did to sew them together. Once I got into a groove, I found that pre-cutting for several blocks made things go faster.

Yvonne your blocks are great! I have some fabric pulled for tomorrow and will make a few also. I am from California and Ventura beach is one of my favorite places. I have to do something to help. I wrote about the fires on my blog post thatfabricfeeling.com a few weeks ago and can’t believe they are still ongoing. It’s Horrible!! I am so grateful to be part of a quilting community that gives so much love!
Very pretty blocks for a great cause. Hopefully once we get the family on their way today, I’ll have some time to play in the sewing room and can make up a few blocks to send.
Those blocks look great! I was wondering if prints were allowed? Also, how long will they be receiving squares?
Thank you for sharing. Love your work. Our grandsons (twins) are 21 today!
Happy birthday to your hubby and happy anniversary to both of you!
Have a blessed and Happy New Year!
Thanks for posting these. They are on my stack of things to do after the holidays. Bravo to you for getting them done now. Happy Birthday to your husband and Happy Anniversary tomorrow!
Yvonne, they’re beautiful. Today and tomorrow are my days to collect and sew my blocks for this important project. Happy Birthday to your husband and Happy Anniversary to you both. My daughter (lives in SF) is on the 28th.
Your blocks are simply gorgeous! I hope to get a few more made over the next several days!
My husband and I got married on Dec 27th too! For us, this will be 42 years. 🙂

Do we send blocks only? What size does the quilt need to be?
Merry Christmas, Happy Birthday to DH, and Happy Anniversary. Love the quilt. My DH and SIL’s birthday was on Dec 24th.
These are beautiful blocks for a worthy cause. Have a great family and celebratory week!
great job for a good cause!
Happy (late) Anniversary. Great looking blocks. I hope the quilts will bring comfort.
I am turning mine in to Conejo Valley Quilt Guild tomorrow at the meeting. They are sewing a bunch together.
I was glad to find this. I’ve been trying to work on some blocks for this relief, but was having trouble getting them together! This is so helpful!
