Wayward Transparency Quilt Along {Finishing}

Wow, it’s hard to believe, but today I am sharing the final instructions as part of the  Wayward Transparency Quilt Along! I have had such a blast seeing what everyone is creating during the Quilt Along in the Quilting Jetgirl Facebook Group, and I am really excited about the linkup in January.

Linkup

You have from now through January 31st to complete your quilt top (finish the steps through Piecing Instructions #3) or finish your quilt and submit it to a final linkup. I will be running the Final Link Up here on my blog from January 12-31, and to enter you may:

  • Link to a blog post
  • Link to an Instagram image
  • OR you may email me an image of your pieced quilt top or finished quilt

Note that if you email me the image, you will be giving me permission to post the image to my Instagram account so that I may link it up for you. I will share all these details again when the Link Up opens on January 12th.

By linking up, you become eligible for one of the 20 prizes donated by our generous Sponsors!

Instructions

The instructions are published in this post and are available in an easy to print PDF format, link below. The instructions will always remain in the blog posts, but the full PDF pattern is now on sale for $10 in my Quilting Jetgirl Craftsy and Etsy stores, and it is even available as a printed booklet!

Wayward Transparency Quilt Finishing

Step 1
Make the quilt sandwich by placing the backing wrong side up, followed by the batting, and then the quilt top, right side up. Baste.

Step 2
Quilt as desired. I quilted the cover quilt using a dense diagonal crosshatch.

Step 3
Join the 2 ½ʺ x WOF binding strips (5 strips for the Traditional Layout and 7 strips for the On-Point Layout) with diagonal seams to create a straight-grain binding strip. Fold the strip in half lengthwise and bind the quilt using the double-fold binding method you prefer.

I haven’t shared any pictures of my top…but I loved making this Yvonne! You broadened my horizons as they say! I do have a couple ideas I need to explore before I finish and fingers crossed…I get it done in time for the link up! Thank you for the wonderful QAL. It was totally stress free!

  3. I’m making progress, but not ready to share just yet!

  4. Sandra Kaufman says:

Did you quilt this on a longarm or domestic machine?

  5. Sandra Kaufman says:

Are you going to show how you loaded your quilt on a longarm at a 45 degree angle? I would love to do that on my Gammill Premier.

  6. Izzy says:

I still have to assemble my top because I can’t decide whether I want the traditional layout or the on point one! This was a really fun QAL Yvonne. Thank you so much for hosting!

  7. I’m so glad I’m caught up. Now to find a backing fabric and finalize a quilting plan.

  8. I just begun to cut my fabrics and I am waiting for my sewing machine!!!
