Wayward Transparency Quilt Along {Cutting Instructions}

I am looking forward to seeing all of the wonderful fabric selections that have been shared in the Quilting Jetgirl Facebook Group start to develop into quilts in the Wayward Transparency Quilt Along! Let’s get things started with the cutting instructions.

Instructions

The instructions are published in this post and are available in an easy to print PDF format, link below. The instructions will always remain in the blog posts, but the full PDF pattern is now on sale for $10 in my Quilting Jetgirl Craftsy and Etsy stores, and it is even available as a printed booklet!

General Pattern Notes

  1. Sew all seams with a ¼ʺ seam allowance.
  2. Press seams open to reduce bulk unless otherwise specified. I suggest using a stitch length of 2.0 when pressing seams open.
  3. The pattern assumes that the usable fabric width is 40″ unless otherwise noted.
  4. WOF = Width of Fabric
  5. HST = Half-Square Triangle

All of the cutting directions except for one step at the very bottom of the page are the same for either version of the quilt. As long as you have enough background fabric, per the fabric requirements, you do not have to decide now if you want to make the on-point layout or the traditional layout until after the quilt blocks are finished and sewn together.

I’ve been staring at my fabric for weeks and I’m so excited to cut it and then I just realized I’ve never worked with all solid, all kona before…I wasn’t planning to precast but now I’m wondering. It’s the navy to cerulean combo Yvonne recommended, I can’t think of a strong reason to prewash (and would prefer to cut unwashed) but I thought I’d see if anyone else has one.

    1. Roseline says:

I rarely prewash( unless reds and whites)

  6. Guess it’s time to get my fabric washed. Let the cutting begin!

  7. LJ says:

Are you going to have a Pinterest board especially for this Wayward Transparency Quilt?

    1. I will! I will share details about it soon. 🙂

  8. Kathy Cummings says:

Are these instructions for the lap size?
    Thank you.

    1. Yes. 🙂

The On-Point version is the large lap size (68″), so complete all of the instructions. The traditional version is large baby quilt / small lap quilt size (48″ square), so complete all but the very last step.

      I hope that helps.

So the two 35″ square fabric A is extra for on-point version and you still need all the Fabric A requirements mentioned first?

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
