I have a handful of quilting community updates I’d like to share today. Thanks for your big, generous, caring hearts. I’m proud to be part of such a wonderful community of people.
Clementine Quilt Along – Fat Quarter Shop
Every year Fat Quarter Shop hosts a charity quilt along. Monthly patterns are posted in exchange for a donation each time the pattern is donated. In addition, Fat Quarter Shop auctions off a completed charity quilt where 100% of the proceeds go to charity. This year, all the proceeds of the Clementine Quilt Along will go to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The donation efforts for the Quilt Along are on a good start with Moda and Fat Quarter Shop donating $10,000 each!

The Clementine Quilt, featuring Mama’s Cottage by April Rosenthal!
The Quilt Along will run from January to July, with one pattern coming out each month for 6 blocks and a finishing pattern to make the quilt. For more information, you can visit the Clementine Quilt Along announcement and be sure to bookmark the Clementine Quilt Along page (note that there are pre-orders already available for quilt kits on the quilt along page!).
#helpingPRandUSVIauction Update
The #helpingPRandUSVIauction hosted on Instagram raised over $4,900 to go toward donations to Puerto Rico and the US Virgin Islands to help in recovery efforts from Hurricane Maria. I’m grateful to everyone who bid and offered up items in the auction.
In addition, I want to let you know that UpCraftClub will be donating 100% of profits from all sewing pattern sales for sales made October 5-October 9; all of the money will go directly to the relief efforts in Puerto Rico. In addition, use coupon code PUERTORICO on UpCraftClub.com to save 20% on your purchase so you can buy more and help more!
Please visit Sew Strong Together for other sewing pattern designers and shops that are donating profits from every sale to Hurricane Maria / Puerto Rico relief efforts.
We really do have the best community! Thank you for sharing these announcements.
That is wonderful!
Quilters have such generous hearts.
Hello Yvonne; It truly is astounding how the quilting community accomplishes so much all of the time for organizations, crisis events and just thoughtful gifts to anyone. It really is a shame that the whole world does not know how much the Quilting Community gives. Yet, at least, they know some of what is given. I appreciate the information you have shared here today, Yvonne. Posts, like yours, helps to make sure that our Quilting Community is aware of some of the places to donate, which is always important. Have a great day!
Thanks for sharing these. They are new to me and it was interesting to read about them.
A great way to help people! In french, we say “Fraternité”! (brotherhood but more large sens..)
