I can’t wait any longer; I have to share the second version of Wayward Transparency that I just finished. This time I used prints!
The fabrics are all by fabric designer Sarah J. The light and medium value prints come from her Dandy Days line and the dark value is from A Shout, a whisper, a Text.
I stuck with a crosshatch quilting motif, like in my first version of Wayward Transparency, but this time I quilted it horizontally and vertically instead of at a 45-degree angle. I used 50wt Aurifil #2588 (Light Magenta), and I love how it created a fun textured that plays off the prints as well.
The Wayward Transparency Quilt Along officially kicks off tomorrow when I’ll be sharing planning details and fabric requirements. Then come back on Saturday for a big post with loads of color and fabric inspiration along with bundle buying and discount code details! I hope you’ll be sewing along with me. I don’t know what I’ll chose for fabrics to sew for my third version…

I love this in prints! I look forward to seeing the variety of quilts that emerge from the quilt along.
So effective in prints too – simply beautiful!
I will be so happy to start this with I hope many others too. And colour suggestions, that will be a huge help .
It’s absolutely stunning! I don’t wish time away, but I didn’t think tomorrow would ever get here!
I really like this version and your quilting!! To me the crosshatch here gives the impression of a loosely knitted background fabric.
I am not sure why, but it seems even more beautiful to me in the prints. I guess I can visualize more options with prints! My mind is running through my stash!
I was going to go all solids, but I do like the prints. Can’t wait to see the combination ideas!
So pretty. I’m going with all solids for mine. It will be fun!
Love all your combinations. Beautiful. Can’t wait to pick out my fabrics for the quilt-along.
Loving the vibrancy of this hot pink ! A change of colour for you . I love it
Oh so pretty! Love the pinks!
I love the prints, the design works so well with them!
This is just fabulous! I love all three prints you’ve used! 🙂
The prints look fabulous! Not to big that they are over powering, just a nice look.
I fell in love with this pattern long ago and am so excited to be privileged enough to get this project. Thank you so mucj.
Beautiful!
I love this version! I’m a sucker for anything pink 😉
This one looks a bit like an optical illusion – probably the print + piecing together. It’s so cool! Looking forward to the color you choose for round 3!
Perfect colors and prints for a fabulous quilt. For me, choosing colors is the hardest part of the quilt making process!
I love it even more in prints! You are tempting me 🙂 I took my blinders off for two seconds to take a peak.
The pink is stunning. It is like eye candy! Looking forward to tomorrow!
This is gorgeous! I love all that texture from the cross hatching.
Squeeeee! I feel like I’m 6 years old and it’s Christmas Eve!
Wow! That certainly changes the dynamics of the quilt. I love it both ways!!!
I loved the solids version but I like this even more. I may have to make two quilts now. Can’t wait to start the QAL.
I have a new and lovely LQS who has a stock of lovely V and Co. Ombres and all the new Tula Pink Spirit Animal, and I think I’m going to need to go and visit her, take some pictures, and figure out what colors I need to go with. There are so many I love!
The prints look amazing,
It is SO gorgeous in those prints!!!
Wow….love this.
It’s lookin’ mighty awesome, Yvonne! It’s refreshing to see it done in prints as that opens up a whole other world of options for transparency. Love what you’ve done, and how you’re sharing this with all of us. Looking forward now to starting to sew!
Love the prints as well as the solids version. Looking forward to the coming days.
I am in love with this quilt! Great job, Yvonne!
This is a great version Yvonne! Looks like you’ve got a good deal of interest in this! It should be a resounding success!
This is so beautiful, these transparency quilts are awesome xxx
Oh so pretty! Both versions turned out beautifully, but I really like this print version. I just may have to try this one. Not that I need another project, but I could certainly stand to move a little fabric out of the stash closet. Solids, I have none. But prints, I’ve got lots of those.
Wow, this is stunning!!!!
I really love that kind of quilting! Beautiful quilt!
It’s really interesting to see how you can use prints and still keep all the characteristics of the design that were so striking in solids. This is really cool!
Wow, Yvonne! Saw this on Instagram, but on the laptop, bigger, it makes me GRIN! Can’t wait to do my fabric pull.
I love this version, Yvonne. The prints add just that little extra something!
I like this version. But I think I still prefer the original colour scheme…which I based my fabric choices on.
