September Honey Pot Bee Blocks

I added two blocks to my growing grouping of Honey Pot Bee blocks for September. I was drawn to the Scrappy Cross Block, and I actually went back and looked at my group photograph from August to help me decide what fabric to use. After looking at the balance, I decided that two blocks would be a nice addition (get it: cross… addition?!): one in the solids that are my base color palette and a second, scrappy version using prints.

Erin from Quilt by Starlight selected the Scrappy Cross Block by Kirsty from Bonjour Quilts. The block sews together quickly and it was really fun to make two different versions of the same block!

I am really loving seeing my grouping of blocks grow each month. I see many potential ideas for filling in and expanding the blocks out, including going back and adding in more duplicate blocks using prints like I did this month. It seems like a long wait each month, but I have a busy September in front of me. I have a few quilts to make in preparation for Quilt Market, so I’d better get started!

What are you sewing this month?

I am making a Christmas quilt for my sister; a rose and cream quilt using the Crown of Thorns block; and I have 4 quilts to bind ( 1.5 accomplished so far!)……..

Hi Yvonne, oh how behind I am on my honey pot bee blocks and yours are looking so fabulous! I might just have to set aside some time this coming weekend to stitch up a few, fingers crossed.

I love the little “pops” the print blocks give the quilt. I have to say I’m really excited to see how you choose to lay the blocks out. With all the different blocks sizes it will make for a great asymmetrical quilt top. Very little piecing going on in my little neck of the quilting world, but the thread is flying from lots of quilting 🙂
