Snowflake Shimmer Mini Quilt
Fabric

Sunday Stash {7/23/2017}

Continuing the theme from last week, I received another amazing package in the mail this week. Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs and I were trying to figure out how to get together for a sewing retreat this fall, and in the end we had to make do knowing we will see each other at QuiltCon in Pasadena next February for the time being. Cheryl is able to get some really amazing fabric at discounted prices once or twice a year, and the last time she went to the sale, she picked up some yardage of a few solids she thought I could use for quilt backings and she mailed them to me this week.

The purple/lilac color is Kaffe Shot Cotton in Pudding and the light blue is Free Spirit Solid in Caribbean.

Cheryl also included this really interesting Anna Maria Horner print, Crossing Paths from the Lou Lou Thi Needleworks line. I can see using it for hand quilting (following the printed cross stitch x’s) or making something that looks intricately pieced from fabric! As an interesting side note, this is a wide fabric that is 58 inches width of fabric!

Snowflake Shimmer Mini Quilt

Snowflake Shimmer Mini Quilt

The last item tucked in the package was the mini quilt version of Snowflake Shimmer that Cheryl made during my first hosted QAL last summer. I am going to enjoy getting to see it hanging in my sewing room every day!

The kindness of others has really touched me lately, and I deeply appreciate it. Speaking of Quilt Alongs, I had originally tentatively planned to host another Quilt Along starting in September, but life has pulled me in many different directions lately. How would people feel about a low key Triangle Transparency quilt along? Or is there another one of my quilt patterns that might speak to you more? Let me know in the comments!

Linking up with Sunday Stash.

  1. Events intervene, but a TT QAL would be utterly wonderful, and only if you think you can manage it, low key!!! I love that pattern so much. After taking part in the 12 days of Christmas hop, and doing ONE tutorial, I now know who much time is involved .However, comments have given me a great feeling of satisfaction and enjoyment to make it all so very worthwhile.

    hi there,
any qal you offer is appreciated!! if you’re already asking, i would LOVE to make either sunburst, [maybe in a small wall hanging version] or thorn!!!. but really you don’t have to do it at all and anything you choose is great!!!
    thanks,
    shoshana
ps, your last qal, snowflake shimmer was one of my first quilts and i not only learned ALOT, but i loved making it!!!!

I think low key is the key word here . Any of your patterns would be great . TT would be interesting and I know I would learn a lot about value . There would be enough there to keep the momentum of a qal . I do have a particular softness for happy day though

Love that block so cute and a fabulous gift the fabrics are really pretty, I’ve never been brave enough to do a transparency so TT would be fun, have a lovely day xx

You’re a lucky girl! Such pretty fabrics. Making one of your transparency quilts is ‘on my list’, and quite near the top. A QAL would be fun!

  6. Joyce says:

I woul love to do a triangle transperency! It is a stunning pattern.

  7. Izzy says:

Wow – that’s a really nice package! I love that mini. As for a QAL, I would definitely take part – I loved making my Snowflake Shimmer quilt last year – and the TT would be a good one.

  8. Beth LaMotte says:

A low key triangle transparency quilt would be great. So would the snowflake. Well, really anything you might suggest as all your designs are wonderful. I’m looking forward to the QAL. Now I have the motivation I needed to finish some quilts before September.

Nice fabrics love the soft look of the solids.

TT is my favorite design of yours, so a TT QAL would be very tempting to me!

  11. Sweet! I loved seeing that little peek into your quilting room.

  12. How nice of Cheryl to share the bounty – and such great fabrics, too! I have a fat quarter (I think) of that AMH fabric and it gets me every time. It would be great as a backing! What a lovely surprise to receive that special mini quilt!

  13. Rochelle Summers says:

Such wonderful friends to share with you. Love the mini quilt (and the quilt ladder next to it). I would love to do the Triangle Transparency quilt-a-long but hope it isn’t too much work for you right now. Thank you.

  14. Liz says:

I vote for Triange transparency or Thorn! But that’s only if you have the time, if you don’t we can always wait until next year!

  15. Lovely gifted additions to your stash! 🙂

Your passion for solids is motivating me to pick up some of my own and Cheryl picked out some good ones for you. The TT QAL would be great if you are up for it. I would certainly pay a fee to join your QAL to help compensate for your time and pattern. My husband loves the SFS quilt which turned out to be the perfect size for him!

  17. Love the mini quilts! Your quits are beautiful on the wall, too. You have goods friends, it’s important in life! You are kind to make a QAL but take time for you!

  18. Lisa says:

Count me in. My life has been absolutely nuts for the last two months……but I’m envisioning a more peaceful September : )

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
