Magnolia Mystery Quilt
Fabric, Life

Sunday Stash {Magnolia Mystery QAL & Friends}

Last week my good friend Cheryl from Meadow Mist Designs kicked off her 4th annual Mystery Quilt Along. This year it is called the Magnolia Quilt Along, and there is still plenty of time for you to decide to join along and sew with us if you are interested. Cheryl releases instructions on the first Thursday of the month, and this month we are making our fabric selections.

Magnolia Mystery Quilt

I will be making the lap size version of the mystery quilt, and I surprised myself with my fabric selection. Where is the blue??? 🙂 Seriously, though, I am very excited about this grouping of fabric and look forward to seeing how it comes together. I had some Kona Silver on hand, but not quite enough for the background yardage, so I purchased Kona Silver from Honey, Bunny and Doll (thanks for having exactly what I wanted and fast shipping, ladies!). You can get lots of details about fabric options for the Quilt Along from Cheryl. The other fabrics I selected came from my stash and are: Fabric A – Waterfront Park, Reflection by Violet Craft for Michael Miller Fabrics, Fabric B – Dottie’s Cousin in Bright Plum by Cotton + Steel, and Fabric C – Little Tinies by Another Point of View for Windham Fabrics.

EPP Kit and Bear Hugs

I also had a couple of very sweet surprises in the mail this week. First, I received this lovely package of items from Laura from Slice of Pi Quilts. She made me an EPP kit, which I know will come in handy. Besides making the most perfectly fabric selected pouch (she said the orange lining was for Aurifil thus making the thread she included even MORE perfect), I’ve never tried EPP before, so I’m thankful to her for helping nudge me along. She also sent along some “bear hugs” which are both super clever (!!) and such a sweet gesture. Thank you so much for your kindness, Laura.

Supernova FQ Bundle

And then a bit later in the week I got this amazing Fat Quarter Bundle (Supernova by Rae Ritchie) from Hawthorne Threads that was gifted to me by Sarah from Smiles Too Loudly. Not only are those cats in spacesuits (!!!!), but the fabulous spectacle print in yellow will really have me thinking about Sarah while I am working with the bundle. Although Sarah’s glasses are red, her favorite color is yellow, thus making this whole bundle pretty darn awesome.

So, I think that about sums up my stash additions for the week. I am super grateful for friends (and fabric), and I’m going to be linking up with Sunday Stash to share that love.

P.s. The Fat Quarter Shop has a Bernina “Hello Lovely” Cotton + Steel B350SE sewing machine to give away, MSRP $1,899! The giveaway ends Tuesday, July 25. The winner will be announced the following day.

    What great friends you have! Love the little EPP kit! Not your usual colors, but I love them! Purple is kind of blue…if you squint in the light!

    That Supernova fabric is awesome! Such fun gifts from sweet friends. I want to do the Magnolia Mystery QAL, but I have yet to pick out some fabric. So many fun things going on & I want to do them all! 🙂 Looking forward to seeing how your EPP experience goes….I’m on the fence about trying it. Handwork is not my favorite!
