I really think the selections for the July Honey Pot Bee Blocks are great filler blocks, and in my excitement, I quickly sewed up a few blocks and anticipate that I will come back and make more of them when it is time to start really getting serious about my quilt top layout.
Up first is Leanne from she can quilt and the Blended Scraps Block. Since I am not working from “scraps” as much for my quilt, I made one strip / 2 blocks using my solids and reserve the right to come back and make a few more adding in prints (or not) to fill in gaps in the quilt top later.
And I just adore these 3″ finished Miniature Log Cabin Blocks by Cath from Wombat Quilts suggested by Jill @urbanpolyester. The blocks are paper pieced and I made a selection of them to start with as well. I suspect I will be coming back to make more of them later!
So, maybe I got done this month because I made a small handful when I could really make a lot of each block… but I really know myself and know I will be happier in the end if I can fill in the gaps with thoughtful, planned blocks at that time.
Molli also told us to put on our thinking caps and start considering our final quilt assembly. I have been pondering, and looking through the scraps of my original fabric, I recently purchased more yardage of my base Kona colors that will be a huge key to my plan!
I can see were more of the cute little log cabin blocks will make great filler blocks.
I love it more and more each month! I’m thinking the same thing about those log cabins, and I have another bonus block scheduled for similar reasons!
This project is really starting to come together. I agree, more log cabin blocks, such a great little block to fill in the spaces. Is Molli’s bee going on till the end of the year? Just curious how many more blocks there are to go.
What a great idea to have filler block ideas for that final layout. Your blocks are looking really nicely balanced!
Always good to reserve the right ! Your blocks are coming together really well . I’ll have to get a move on
These blocks are looking great Yvonne. I am enjoying your process with the solids.
They continue to look awesome! What a fun project!
These do look like great filler blocks. Buying more of your colors before you run out is smart.
Whatever you layout, it’s going to look great!
I really like the color combo, it’s different (for me), but is really coming together.
Those mini log cabins blocks are awesome!
I’m in love with your blocks and your colour scheme! Those tiny log cabin blocks are so cute and you’re right – they are going to be awesome fillers once you decide on a layout.
