Needle and Foot: Prize Winnings
Fabric

Sunday Stash {7/2/2017}

I was so thrilled to learn I had won a giveaway prize for linking up my Freefall QAL finish with Sandra from mmmquilts: I won 3 half yard cuts of fabric of my choice from Bernie of Needle and Foot!

Needle and Foot: Prize Winnings

I picked the newest Rainbow Stripe by Kim Schaefer for Andover (I used her previous stripe for the binding of my Freefall quilt). Bernie sold two full bolts of the previous print, so you might want to get your hands on this version while supplies last! I also selected Sunshine in Grey Skies by Alison Glass to fill in my depleted grey stash and Alison Glass’s Art Theory Panel in White. Thank you so much for sponsoring the Quilt Along and for the beautiful fabric, Bernie!!

Janome Walking Foot

Janome Walking Foot

I also purchased a Janome even feed / walking foot to try on my Juki. However, I ordered the wrong foot. Oops! I should have ordered the foot for high shank machines, and as you can see in the image above, I bought the one for low shank machines. So… it’s already been shipped back and the correct high shank model has been ordered (extra bonus: it is $20 cheaper for some reason!). I was turned on to using this foot by Laura from Slice of Pi Quilts, and she did specify the high shank version; I just overlooked that when the link she provided was out of stock and I gamely went off in search of another seller. So, buyer beware if you want to give this a try. I have yet to test it out but am excited based on Laura’s (and Rose’s) glowing review!

I guess since I haven’t been sewing as much lately I have been a bit more focused on looking at fabric online… so stay tuned. I have more purchases coming in to share soon!

Linking up with Sunday Stash.

  1. Online help is so wonderful, and I am really happy that your problems are getting solved, thanks to others in quilting land. You would think that all machines would have problems sorted out, feet fitting and working perfectly, before a model is sold. I, too, won a prize in the Freefall link up and have 2 wonderful patterns from Cheryl at Meadow Mist. I will say that after quilting the Freefall I have more confidence to tackle something a little larger. Your fabrics are stunning.

Thanks for the shout out! Bummer that the foot wasn’t the right one! Hopefully it won’t be long for the new one to arrive. Beautiful choices for your prize winnings too!

That Allison Glass panel is very yummy.

  6. Free fabric is ALWAYS fun!! And your picks are so pretty! Oops on the walking foot! Been there, done that with my first machine. And now I’m heading over to read all about this Janome foot for Jukis…I’m intrigued!

  7. Delightful fabric choices, Yvonne! And you’e reminded me about the wrong style walking foot that’s been sitting in my sewing table drawer. I need to offer it up to someone who it might work for and get it cleared out! Thanks ; )

  8. I have the Art Theory Panel too. Will be anxious to see what you do with it. Love anything Alison Glass. 🙂

  9. Kathleen McCormick says:

Great choices! I made a similar boo boo on my last online order – wound up with Aurifil embroidery thread not floss. Love your fabric choices, too!

  10. Congrats on your prize, that rainbow fabric is awesome!!

Congratulations! Bernie always has such great selections in her shop. That art panel is wonderful! I have a sticker like it, but fabric would be better. 😉 This was a QAL I had to save for later, so I hope to make it soon.

I enjoyed seeing all the quilts from the Freefall quilt along. I admire those of you who work on multiple sew-alongs at one time. That strip is lovely and I love those for bindings, too. I don’t know if not sewing as much is a good thing or not, but shopping for fabric, now that’s very fun! I really have to control myself when it comes to that!

  14. Sarah says:

I switched to the Janine foot recently after an earlier recommendation on the Juki FB page and totally agree with the thoughts Laura has posted — the Janome foot for me has been a vast improvement over the Juki one. Hope you experience the same!

  15. Helen says:

Beautiful fabric choices Yvonne . Very different but equally great . Mmm walking foot – I bought one for my pfaff but it seems to quilt better without . And maddeningly it seems to be the same as the walking foot I already had for the janome

  16. I also ordered the Janome walking foot for my Juki though I haven’t tried it out yet. Love that rainbow stripe fabric.

  17. Sandra Healy says:

Congratulations on your win, Yvonne, and that rainbow stripe fabric looks stunning. It would make gorgeous binding! x

  18. So glad you won the prize, Yvonne, and what beautiful choices you made. Think I’d better snag some of that rainbow stripe; I used up nearly all of an older one on my Rainbow Rose QAL with Ruth I did last summer.
