Cloud9 New Block Charity Quilt

I have had the desire to piece the 25 blocks I have in my possession from the 2016 Cloud9 New Block Blog Hop into a quilt top to finish to donate for charity for the past few months. Yesterday I finally pulled out all the blocks, laid them out, and worked on identifying them all (which took quite some time!).

  1. Wow, there they all are, great to see them, and recognise some that I have made from those super patterns, Will you add sashing and a border? What fabulous Cloud 9 fabrics.

  6. Sooo fun to see these all together, Yvonne!! I can’t wait to see what kind of top quilting magic you are going to bring to this charity quilt 🙂

  7. Yvonne, thanks for sharing your progress on this project. It’s so helpful to know the creators of the blocks with links to their blogs. I am finding some new blogs to check out!

Once you start sewing, I think you will have it together and finished in no time at all.

  11. Alison says:

This color palette is so beautiful! I can’t wait to see how you finish it.

  12. Helen says:

Great colour combination there . It’s amazing how such disparate blocks all come together with a cohesive colour scheme

  13. These look beautiful together! Makes me smile thinking of all the giving spirit on display: 1. all the free tutorials out there; 2. your quilting time and expertise freely given; 3. the donated fabric from Cloud 9 Fabrics; and 4. that it’s going to a charity. Why can’t this giving mentality be forefront as opposed to the conquer and make money and get more power mentality we see far too much…

  14. Thanks for continuing the project and all the time it took to identify and link up to the designers!

  15. The top is looking beautiful! Thank you for keeping us posted on your progress. I know it takes a lot of time and I am so thankful you found some to work on this project. Funny things about time: We never seem to have enough and we tend to run out of it. If we don’t use it wisely, it’s gone forever and there’s no way to get it back. It’s something we all wish we had more of. Thank you for giving of your time to make this quilt with our blocks. Karen

Yvonne, I missed out on this blog hop since I am “newer” to blogging. The colors you chose for these blocks are quite stunning. Whoever receives this top will be feeling quite lucky. That is so nice that you’ve chosen to donate it to charity. Thanks for all the links you posted. I’ve got some new blogs to check out.

  18. Hello Yvonne! These blocks are fantastic! Thank you so much for taking the time to identify who contributed each and every block for we can go and see their blog posts on creating the blocks for this quilt. The fabrics from Cloud 9 are so elegantly matched! I look forward to seeing what you are going to do with your brilliant quilting designs. This is truly going to make a great charity quilt, better yet, a lovely cuddle quilt for someone who needs it! Thank you for sharing and have a great day!
