After my first Busy Bag went together well enough, I immediately made plans to made a second bag for Sadie’s Dream for a Cure. I made my fabric pull and submitted a request online for a label to stitch on to the front pocket. And then I made the second version of my Layered Diamonds quilt last week and decided I was going to change directions entirely and use up the rest of this really lovely astronaut / space / UFO print from Michael Miller. It was a very happy change in plans!
I learned a few things from my first time assembling the bag, and the second bag came together much more easily. It’s really fun to see how quickly I acquired new skills, and I could tell there was progress with the construction of the second bag.
This second bag might be harder for me to give away (I just love the rockets, planets, UFOs, and astronauts!), but my buddy Puppy the Cat seems to think the first bag is pretty sweet. Puppy weighs about 11 pounds these days, and the bag picked him up with ease. I will take a lint roller and tape to the bags before I send them out to make them as fur free as is possible in my home.
I struggled to get a photograph of the interior of the first bag for my first blog post, so I thought I would show off the inside of both bags today. Both these bags will be cleaned up and shipped off early this week. I really enjoyed stretching myself to learn something new, and I hope they brighten up a child’s day.
Such an exceptional way to step out of your comfort zone and learn a new skill. Your bags are very sweet and will bring big smiles. Thank you for raising awareness to this initiative.
I’m sure they will make someone very happy Yvonne. I learn something new with every bag I make and each one seems to get easier. I’m happy these went together so well for you; now you can add bag maker to your list of accomplishments! 🙂
Both bags are cute, but I think bag two is my favorite. I’m sure both will be loved by whomever receives them.
I love them both. I have a kit too but am a little confused by the directions, lol. I don’t make many bags….and seem to get confused quite a bit with them. I will get through though for sure. And may even do another!
Both of the bags look great, I’m glad they have Puppy’s seal of approval 🙂
What a great idea. Thanks for contributing. A plus that you can learn as you go, making the second bag easier to make.
Both bags are so nice and well done! Puppy looks right a home; you might have to make him one, just for him!
Both bags look great! And you have new skills added to your repertoire to boot. A win win situation all around.
As before , these will make any child , big or small, delighted with these
Both bags are super cute and will bring smiles to those who receive them.
I forgot who we were supposed to let know how many bags we are sending. I will have 3 to mail by the weekend. I’m sure the goal of 25 has been (more than) met. We are all fabric/sewing/quilting crazy!! I love your bags…What fun and what a great thing is happening!!
Wonderful bags and I am sure some lucky child will be so thrilled to have one. It is nice to learn new things and you do them well. I’m still waiting to hear how Puppy got his name.
I like them both, but understand why shipping off bag 2 will be so hard…
Both bags turned out great! And I love the fabric on the second bag 🙂 It’s also good to see Puppy again. I love when he makes an appearance.
Great job on the bag! I think you have a very adorable inspector, too.
Puppy’s adorable and the bags are cute, too!
Very fun bags! I’d have a hard time giving up either one.
Fantastic fabric selection Yvonne. I love them both!
You made it! beautiful bags!
