I am still slowly getting back into a regular routine, and I am really thankful that I had the Baby Carter quilt to work on slowly.
I was able to get the quilt completed and gifted at the baby shower, and it was so fun to watch the quilt get passed around and felt by everyone. I even saw the mom-to-be pulling the quilt out to touch and fold several times, so I know this quilt will be loved and used. 🙂
I used 50wt Aurifil 2105 (Champagne), which is a light yellow, to quilt an all over meandering loop design.
The thread color blends in so well it was hard to get a photograph showing the color. I think you can just make out the yellow against the Essex Linen Graphite here, though.
I used 50wt Aurifil 2908 (Spearmint) to machine stitch down the binding. The photographs of the quilt were taken in Pacific Grove, California. The wildflowers in California are pretty stunning this year, and the park bench with a blooming bush behind it seemed like a great spot to snap a few photos before gifting the quilt.
I can also verify that the quilt is quite warm and cuddly! The Baby Lucent quilt finished at 40 inches square prior to quilting and first wash (all the photos here are of the quilt after it has been washed). I did not remember to get a final measurement of the quilt prior to gifting; I used Quilter’s Dream Orient batting.
I love seeing that you tested the quilt for snuggliness (that’s a word) first! Love the fresh green!
Wonderfully cheery baby quilt. I love the meandering loop design you did, it looks great and looks so cuddly. I am sure it will be well loved.
Passing the baby quilt around and the petting of it I’m sure made your heart sing, knowing it was well received.
It’s a beautiful quilt Yvonne. Thanks for including the details on thread colour. Choosing thread colour can be quite difficult at times.
That is lovely!
The best baby gift there is – and your own pattern! That last picture of you made me smile. It’s perfect!
I hope things are going better for you. I’m behind on my blog reading and need to find time to catch up.
Baby Carter’s quilt is beautiful! It’s so nice to know it will be loved and appreciated. All quilts need to be tested! Cute picture!
I’ve thought of you when I saw the California bloom stories.
This is so cute! I have loved watching your progress on this quilt. You might need to make one for yourself (maybe slightly bigger 😉 ).
It turned out amazing! I can see why you snuggled under it…just to see if it worked! Baby Carter will be wrapped and conforted in it for many, many years!!
It is beautiful, I love the colors, great job!!!
So love your baby quilt.
Super sweet and obviously well appreciated, which is so nice!
Yvonne, this is adorable. I love the colors, the design and the quilting. Carter will cherish this for years.
I love the picture of you testing the quilt’s snuggle-factor! It turned out beautifully and it’s great that the mom-to-be is so happy with it 🙂
Beautiful baby quilt. I love the cozy, crinkly feel of a well-quilted, washed quilt.
Glad you are getting back. The quilt is very snuggly looking and I am sure will be enjoyed.
So glad things are normalizing. The pic of you and the quilt is adorable!
Great quilt, and loved all the details, but of course–the best photo is the one of you and the quilt!
Great job, Yvonne! And I’m glad to hear that the mother-to-be seems to love it so much…. I’m guessing she’ll give it a lot of test snuggles too.
Such a nice quilt and I’m so happy the mom-to-be liked it. Love the photo of you “testing” it.
Very pretty. Even better, it’s done on time and gifted. The getting done on time is always my hick up.
I LOVE this quilt! I tried to save it to Pinterest but I couldn’t figure out how to do it. However, I follow you, so hopefully when I next need to make a baby quilt I will be able to find it! Thank you for sharing!
Doesn’t it look marvellously scrunchy after its first wash. It will be loved and used.
A stunning quilt it looks so cuddly, you look very cozy under it xxx
Your snuggly photo is just so perfect! And the baby quilt is just beautiful.
love the colors! I can see why you want to snuggle under it!
Love the quilt! I really like the gray background. It’s different, goes well with your other colors…AND it doesn’t show dirt like lighter colors do! 🙂
Aww this quilt is so cute for a baby! I love the bight yellow and green with the grey. It looks like a very cozy and soft quilt!
Lucky baby Carter and I am glad to see you Road tested yours ! I’m looking forward to starting mine in a few weeks
What a darling quilt. It drew my eye so much that I didn’t even notice the flowers until you mentioned them.
