Commenting Via Bloglovin’

At the end of August last year, I shared some of my Thoughts on Quilting Blogs, which ultimately culminated in my thought that the heart and soul of a blog is the community that is found, formed, and cultivated in a blog’s comments. As a quick follow on the the discussion that the post cultivated, I had a Blog Comments: Follow Up post where I shared how I had submitted a request to Bloglovin’ to let users leave comments on blog posts within their app. Many others also added their voice to the request, and perhaps a little over a month ago I started noticing that Bloglogin’ now lets you leave comments. How cool is that?

Comments on Bloglovin - This is so exciting!!!

Comments on Bloglovin – This is so exciting!!!

I am posting today with another similar request: leaving comments is a great start, but I want to be able to reply to anyone who leaves a comment on one of my posts in Bloglovin’, so I submitted another help ticket.

If you would also like to do so, here are the steps I took to submit the request.

  1. Log into Bloglovin’ and click on your profile icon in the upper right hand corner. Click on “Help” in the drop down menu that appears.
  2. You will need to sign in again to get access to the Help options.
  3. After you sign in, click on Contact Support beside your login identity in the upper right hand corner of the screen. This will bring you to the Submit a Request screen.

Here is what I submitted:

Subject: Add Ability to Reply to Comment on Bloglovin’

Description: I am so excited that there is now a native way to add comments to blog posts within Bloglovin’. As an active blogger, I would love to be able to reply to those who comment on my blog posts, so if there is any way to add a “reply” that they will be able to see, I would love to have that as a feature.

Thank you so much for all you do for the blogging community!

Kind regards,
Yvonne @Quilting Jetgirl

I suspect they might already have comment replies in their queue to work on, but it can’t hurt to ask and help elevate that priority, right?!

Good for you, Yvonne! I love that you take action instead of just wishing things were different. On another note, I love the photo at the top of this post.

I didn’t realize it changed. I always had to leave bloglovin and go to the website. I just noticed a “reply” link all the way to the right of Kaja’s comment and I’m using that to see if it replies to her comment or to your blog.
Thanks for making things happen Yvonne!

  3. Cindy says:

I had no idea it had changed thanks Yvonne for taking the initiative to make this happen.

  4. Great idea, Yvonne! I had a comment on my blog and couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t reply. Now it makes sense!

  5. Kudos for the proactive action. Bloglovin’ has been adding useless things lately, like their notifications changes. Maybe some good feedback will help steer them in a better direction.

  6. Haha – I might be the only one who doesn’t care for that 😉 I would rather the reader come to my page to make the comment so that I can reply, and they come to my page – especially since there are new freee patterns, and other things in my headers that don’t show up on Blog lovin – oh well, a new learning experience for me 😉

  7. Thanks, Yvonne, for this thoughtful blog. I too, think leaving and replying to comments should be easier.

  8. That’s an interesting feature! A question: so the comments added in bloglovin only stay in blog lovin? they don’t appear as regular comments on the blog and get sent to the blogger email address? I am just curious because as a blogger I may miss some comments if I don’t use that platform and the traffic on the blog may be affected too, right? I think those platforms are very useful and convenient, but I am just wondering how they integrate themselves with the regular blog browsing experience!

Thanks for this info! I am planning to launch a blog and have been wondering whether I should publish it on Bloglovin’ in addition to my site. Do you recommend it? (I will submit a request for the ability to reply within Bloglovin also). Thanks for your thoughts!

  9. I submitted a request. Thank you for the reminder as I had just thought about that the other day. Some of my readers have been commenting on Bloglovin and I can’t always find their email to respond! Plus, it would be so much easier to do it directly, as you’ve pointed out. Thanks Yvonne.

You go girl, I love that you are making thing better for us all. I will submit a request too.

  11. Rochelle Summers says:

What I hope this will mean is that as a reader I can see your reply to the comments posted to your blog. It might answer a question that I have or spark more discussion. As it is now, I can see the readers’ questions but not your response. Frustrating.

I noticed the change but didn’t look into it – so thanks for bringing it up again!

  13. Hello Yvonne! Congratulations on being once again a fantastic leader in the process of helping change things for the better! I did not realize that I could not comment on Bloglovin’, I suppose somehow, I have always gone to the website. Thanks to your post today, I know I am posting a comment on the blog. Thank you for leading those of us who are not so good at it along!

  14. I love your attention to detail Yvonne. This is a great modification. 🙂

  15. Popping over from the 2017 New Quilt Bloggers Hive~ Glad to be a Bee in your Hive! As a new blogger, many of your tips are helpful. I am still overwhelmed but much will get easier as I navigate through it over much time. Thanks~

  16. Awesome! Changes can’t be made if we don’t make our views known. Having said that, I am so far behind in blog reading……

  17. I noticed that change and I think that it is a nice feature. Being able to reply directly through the app or website would be great too.
