Tips and Tutorials Tuesday

Tips and Tutorials Tuesday #12

I’m heading home from QuiltCon today! I can’t wait to put all my thoughts together and share with you about my time and experience once I catch up on some sleep and tackle the long to-do-on-March-1st list I left for myself (I’m not thinking that was a good idea right now; maybe a few of those items can wait another day or two??).

Quilt shows always remind me about quilt labeling. To help me become better about labeling my quilts, I ordered custom Quilting Jetgirl tags that I sew into my binding from Tagtopia. I also will hand write custom labels to applique onto a corner with the quilt name, and my name/address/email/phone number at a minimum (sometimes I also include the quilt dimensions and/or month and year the quilt was completed). Do you label your quilts?

I’m looking forward to sleeping in my bed tonight… and seeing what tips and tutorials you have to share this week!

I do label my quilts I normally hand embroider a message with name of quilt and date finished, I think adding wash instructions label is a great idea and will have to check that out. Hope you get a good rest before you hit the todo list xxx

I label my quilts by making a smaller rectangle block (usually is mirrors a block from the quilt front) then hand embroider a “For, From, Quilt Name and Date” on it. Sometimes I sew onto the back right corner before the actual quilting though recently I’ve handsewn onto the back after it has been quilted. I love the idea of a pre-made label to sew into the binding with washing instructions.

I just finished having my niece make me up a logo, and I just found a company on Etsy to make my labels! They are being printed while I am typing! So this means that one will be able to go into my Snowflake Shimmer when it gets finished along with both of my Meadow Mystery QAL finishes, they are both in the quilting stages also. Hope you got a good sleep in your own bed (today/tonight?) Liz

Hope you got some sleep–and that your legs held up better this year! Yoga? Must be great to be back home again 🙂
