The Inadvertent Purchase {Sunday Stash)

On Monday, I barely had enough white 50wt Aurifil (2021 or 2024 – either would have been OK for what I wanted) to quilt a quilt. But I eeked through it and as soon as my local quilt store (LQS) opened on Tuesday (Monday is the one day a week they are closed), I drove over hoping to pick up more Aurifil and some Kona White or Snow. They had neither… but then I remembered my stash of green prints is running a bit thin.

Wouldn’t you know that the jewel tone blue came home with me, too? Left to right, I picked up half yard cuts of:

1. Bear Essentials 2 by P&B Textiles,

2 & 3. Dinosaur Scales in Turquoise and Green from “I Love You This Much” by Leanne & Kaytlyn Anderson for Henry Glass & Co.,

4. Swirls in Green from Eggcellent Adventures by Heidi Pridemore for Fabri-Quilt,

5. Bloom Modern by Jason Yenter for In the Beginning, and

6. Bear Essentials 2 by P&B Textiles.

Linking up with Sunday Stash to see what others brought home this week, too!

Gorgeous fabrics I love the jewel blue I’d have had to bring that one home too lol xxx

  2. Yes, these fabrics can’t stay in the store! Your house is a better home!

  3. Sarah says:

Bummer about the Aurifil and the Kona Snow; but those yummy blues & greens more than make up for it. You picked some beauties!

  4. Cindy says:

I love those greens the blue isn’t too shabby either.

I went to my local shop yesterday, it’s a 45 minute drive so I wait for a day when hubby can go with me. I was only going for the backing for our best friends quilt their anniversary is coming up in May along with her birthday so I really need to get this finished! Long story short we ended up picking out fabrics to make a few turtle quilts as well thier youngest daughter is turning 30 and our daughter will be 29 in August and they both love turtles.

  6. Ooh, your stash is excited to add their new playmates to the group. 🙂 Those greens are so pretty. I have a bit of that top one in my own stash….

Isn’t that what always happens when you go “out for a spool of thread”? It always happens to me when I order my Aurifil (not available locally). My rationally is, “I’m already paying shipping.” Your selections are all beautiful!

It’s frustrating when a quilt shop is closed!! Even more frustrating when you drive all the way there only to discover that…I’ve done that recently! Your fabrics look like they will be a good addition to have! The greens make me long for springtime!

Beautiful fabric, Yvonne. Right now I am on a fabric diet, which is so hard. I have one bundle that I pre-ordered in December that will come in January. This is really hard, especially when I see so many pretty and fun fabrics on the blogs. I look forward to seeing what you do with these. Enjoy!!

Dinosaur scales…must have. I see a sea turtle or two made from that yummy fabric appliquéd onto tees for my sweet granddaughters. The blue is also a must have. Our LQSs are closed on Mondays as well. What is up with that!?

  11. Shauna says:

Those are awesome fabrics, bright and cheerful. I’m sure they will look awesome where ever you use them. I have been avoiding the fabric store because way too much comes home with me.

  12. Julierose says:

Love that Henry Glass print–lovely greens (I am green with envy hahaha)–nice addition to your stash…hugs, Julierose

  13. I’m sorry your shopping run for white was such a bust ; ) Love that Bloom modern print!
(And for some reason that Bear Essentials reminds me of Monkeys in a Barrel – the little scooped arms maybe?)

  14. Those greens are amazing! The bear essentials are some of my favorites lately. SO many great options.

  15. Lovely brights, and a very good alternative to necessary threads.

  16. Good Morning Yvonne! Sorry that you did not get the thread that you needed. Yet, the treasures you did find and bring home are just a perfect replacement! Each one of these fabrics are truly fabulous prints and such a brightness about them; I sure wish that my fabric stash had them added to them. LOL. Have a great time choosing the perfect projects for these fabrics along with coordinating fabrics. Have a spectacular day!

I too tend to sneak something I just like in with a purchase of things my stash needs.

    Hi Yvonne,
What a collection of luscious, jewel colours a fabulous addition to your stash I imagine 🙂 Cheers Fi

That always happens to me when I go into a craft store for something specific 🙂 I love the dinosaur scales print.

  23. Helen says:

That’s what I call thinking on the job Yvonne . It would have been awful to have had a wasted journey

  24. Who can resist a perfect green? Not me, nope. I happen to think green is really a neutral and you just can’t have too much.

  25. Danice says:

Oh those green fabrics are gorgeous. Green is my favorite color. The blue is just as pretty. Looking forward to seeing what wonderfulness you create with them.

  26. Very lush looking greens. The blue is gorgeous too. Definitely a very needed stash refresh.
