Molli kicked off January for the Honey Pot Bee on the 4th, and it has been fun watching all the blocks already created via Instagram (#TheHoneyPotBee) and the Facebook group. I was able to get my blocks finished on Sunday afternoon, and I am really excited to see how my blocks are looking together already!
Our first queen was Angie @Gnome Angel, and she selected the Strawberry block. There are two tutorials you can use depending on the size you want the block to finish. I chose to make the smaller size for my block. As you may remember, my fabric pull for the bee was a grouping of Kona solids, and I decided to use the Berry for the Strawberry and pull coordinating prints to fill out the berry and give it some interest. I used Hyacinth for the background and Bluegrass for the center stem, pulling 2 more solids for the greenery.
Molli was the second queen for January, and he picked the Starflower Block. I opted to stick with Hyacinth for the background and created a two tone stare in Salmon and Shell.
Things are off to a great start! Linking up to Main Crush Monday.

Your blocks look great together. I like the fabrics you used for the strawberry, I think they add interest.
Things ARE off to a great start! It will be fun to see where this quilt ends up, with all the different blocks added each month. It’s like a mystery quilt! 🙂
It’s fun watching everyone’s blocks come together for the Honey Pot Hive. I really wanted to play along, but haven’t so far. Seeing your berry block makes me want to run home and start pulling our fabrics 🙂
On my list…on my list! I’m smitten with the little strawberry block, and I’m not sure why! I don’t often do cute! I’m always intrigued with your color selections. You got a way about you Yvonne!!
Both of those look great, I love the colors you chose and the mix of solids and prints on the strawberry really make it pop.
These are looking fabulous. I can’t wait to get started on mine.
Beautiful beginning!!!
They look great. 2017 is off to a productive year in blogland!

I’m loving those strawberry blocks. They’re just so cute!
Yes things are off to a good start….I’m not sure if I’ll make these two or not. I’ll have to see how much time I have.
I like the idea of adding a few prints here and there. These look great!
Great looking blocks. I haven’t decided on fabric yet, but now having seen yours, I’m going to use solids. Thanks for the inspiration.
Loving all your blocks together. I did remember that you’d pulled all solids for this project and was waiting to see how you’d handle it. With aplomb as it turns out! I am midway through my own strawberry – they’re so dang cute!
Love the fabrics in your berry block! You got a good start on your 2017 project.
