Life, Linky Party

Best of 2016

I am excited that my friend Cheryl @Meadow Mist Designs is hosting the “Best of” linky party again this year. Her rules to join up are:

[S]imply write a new blog post highlighting your “best” 5 posts from 2016 and linkup.  There is no set way or rules to pick your best, you can pick and highlight your posts anyway you would like.  Some examples include: Posts with the most views, Posts with the most comments, Posts that provoked the best discussions, Posts showing your favorite 2016 finishes, Posts of your best tutorials, Posts that are simply your favorites.

In combination with the 2017 Planning Party that I am hosting, I think it is a great way to send off 2016 and prepare for the year ahead!

It was fun to look back at the yearly statistics for Quilting Jetgirl, and I’m going to present my “Best of 2016” in reverse order based on number of page views in 5 different categories, and I am even going to list out the page views (as of 12/24/2016).

5. Best Discussion Post – Thoughts on Quilting Blogs

1,207 page views

The heart of my thoughts on blogs, and quilting blogs, centers on cultivating community which ultimately is done through comments and responses. I enjoyed continuing the discussion in the comments and emails, and I am so grateful for the community who read and interact withe me here.

4. Best Quilt Finish – Beacon

Beacon is a very meaningful design and quilt for me, and I love the subtle binding details I added as well. This is a very modern design with a lot of negative space, so I was pleased to see it resonated with my readers so much as well.

3. Best New Pattern – Bundle Buster

Not only was my post about the Bundle Buster quilt and pattern release well read, but it has been a great selling quilt pattern for me. I am definitely going to be thinking about creative ways to use fabric bundles for more quilt patterns in the future.

2. Best (First) Quilt Along – Snowflake Shimmer Quilt Along

5,674 page views of the landing page | 20,828 page views for all posts related to the QAL combined

I had so much fun offering my first Quilt Along this year! It was a delight to see so many different versions of the quilt made. I am definitely planning another Quilt Along for 2017, and I have tentative plans for it to start on September 1st. Stay tuned for more details!

1. Best Tutorial – How to Modify Your Ironing Board

21,646 page views

This tutorial has been popular! Published in November, I am amazed at the daily number of views the tutorial continues to receive daily. The tutorial resonated with a lot of people, and my suspicion is that a fair few significant others were working to create these as gifts for this holiday season!

Thank you so much for being a part of my 2016. I look forward to seeing more “Best of 2016” recap posts and what 2017 has in store for us all!

*This is likely to be my final post for 2016 as my husband’s birthday is today, our 13th anniversary is tomorrow, and we are taking some R&R time together this week.
