As I mentioned on Sunday, Molli threw out a Wild Card block tutorial last Wednesday. Once I had my fabric selection for the Honey Pot Bee made… it was clear I was going to have to pull in some additional fabric for these blocks straight away!
Modern Christmas Tree Block
I chose 2 Peppered Cottons for the brown trunks for these Modern Christmas Tree Blocks, and I think that the texture that the peppered cottons add as the trunks is a nice touch and the colors play well with the Kona Eggshell and Bluegrass.

I love the cool colors of your trees and I think the Peppered cottons are perfect with them.
Sometime ago I had fun making a mini forest of paired trees in different greens – they’re on my display wall pinned to batting as I haven’t decided on a final layout for them!
I’ve been wanting to make these tree blocks in exactly these colors – so watch out once I get my Christmas gift sewing done! 😉
I joined the bee, made the tree blocks and find they are quite addicting! One block turned out quite a bit smaller than the other. I’m not sure if I read the pattern wrong, but will keep both as they are sooo cute. So far I have resisted the urge to buy more fabric….ugh!
Isn’t it funny how you think you’ve got it all nicely put together and then, as my English mum would say, “Someone throws a spanner in the works!” meaning you have to back up and rethink a bit. Love the peppered cottons additions.
