Having a quick finish to come home to work on after Quilt Festival was just what I needed to ease me back into sewing. It didn’t take long to put the binding on the doll quilt I made for my niece, and I figured the only way to photograph the finish was with the couple of stuffed animals I have in my home.
Tigger looks pretty cozy tucked in under the doll quilt. The top was pieced from a 42-piece mini charm pack of Chic Neutrals from Moda. The quilt finished at 12.5-inches by 14.5-inches.
I hand quilted the mini quilt using Aurifil embroidery floss #2430 (Antique Rose). I chose to use the embroidery floss because I had the sample on hand and other than that I had a lot of 50wt available, which I figured was too thin and light. I finished the mini with a fun black, white, and yellow stripe print that I stitched with my sewing machine.
I know my niece has a big imagination, and I hope she has as much fun imagining stories and fun with this doll quilt as I did.
Sweet!!!
What a perfect way to spend the day back sewing again! This is such a sweet doll quilt and I am sure your niece is going to love it – and you for making it. The hand quilted hearts are the icing on the cake!
This is so sweet ♥
Very cute and the striped binding is a great choice. She will love playing with this. 🙂
She will be over the moon.
What a sweet little quilt! I love the hand quilting and the binding is a great choice.
It’s so cute! Great job on the hand quilting! 🙂
I really enjoy looking at the hand quilting on your doll quilt. Tigger and Squirtle look like they are really enjoying the quilt.
That binding is perfect! Hooray for fast finishes.
If Tigger can be convinced to part with it, your niece will love it.
It’s lovely ! Great way to use a charm pack too (I’ve the same waiting in my closet …)
I bet she’ll be thrilled!
I’m sure your niece will love it. And I love your Tigger. I’m a huge fan of his.
