As a quilter who likes to stay on top of my commitments and “to-do” list, it feels like a long time, but Jess @Quilty Habit released the instructions for piecing the small stars in the Star Light Star Dark QAL last Monday, August 8th. Thankfully the schedule has a bit of breathing room built into it, and I am now all caught up. 🙂
I am making the baby quilt size version of the quilt, so there will be 4 quadrants in my pieced quilt top. For each quadrant, we had the option of making (1) or (2) smaller friendship stars. For the lighter colored quadrants, I selected (2) stars and in the darker colored quadrants, I picked (1).
There are also 2 different directions that a friendship star can be pieced, and I chose to have my blue stars going in one direction and my green stars going in the opposite. I foresee a finished quilt top in my near future… once I work through the rest of my immediate to-do list!

Very lovely Yvonne! I sure feel like I’m floppin’ around here and not staying on top of things. Instead of finishing something, I just heap more things on. Happy sewing!
Your stars look great. I look forward to see more!
Hugs Martina
I just love friendship stars. I feel like they are such a happy block! I am really excited to see your finished quilt top!
Yvonne, it is looking great! Can’t wait to see the finish.
They look great! I like that you made the colors two different ways. That Lizzy House star print sticks out (in a good way) and I love that light green Zen Chic background. Can’t wait to see it all together! I’m behind on your QAL big time – I hope to cut next week.
Yay, for caught up! Can’t wait to see what your completed top looks like all together. I’ve been in love with your fabric pull so I’m pretty sure that means your finish top will be just as rockin.
I am way behind too – this summer seems to be escaping from me. Glad you are caught up, i hope to get tons done this weekend!
This is such a cute little star! I like your colors! Did you see the cute one posted by Daisy Cottage Quilting on Instagram? I loved her little colored dot background! I’m putting this on my list of quilts to make!
