On Monday, Jess @Quilty Habit released the first set of piecing instructions for her Star Light Star Dark QAL: piecing the large stars. Looking ahead at the schedule, the small star instructions will come out next Monday. Looking ahead at my month… I decided I had better get these blocks pieced ASAP!
I am really pleased with how my blocks came together, and it is fun to see how the difference in contrast and location of prints / solids in the blocks makes the same piecing look.
If I were to do it again, I’d pay more attention to the direction of the C+S print in my darker star to get the diagonal all running in the same direction.
Linking up with Let’s Bee Social.
My pick is the blue, love those contrasts, and the green, I like it that way, if it was all one way how would you have lined up the stripes? Or just had them slanting evenly? Great stars.
LOVE IT LOVE IT STARS ALWAYS MY FAVORITE AND CAN T WAIT TO START IT
I think the diagonals going in different directions is perfect in your green star! It really makes it stand out.
If you aren’t careful, it’s crazy how time can slip away and one can fall behind on a project. I started cutting my Snowflake Shimmer fabric last night so I will not fall behind. I like how the stripes run in the C&S star. Actually it’s a toss up as to if it or the dark blue one above it are my favorites.
This is coming out beautifully, Yvonne.
Your star wouldn’t twinkle if all the diagonals were the same direction. I like your colors and fabric choices.
I also love the diagonal going the opposite way! My original quilt had a similar star (the dark purple one) and I did that unintentionally, too. Your colors are so luminous, and great points! I need to start cutting for your QAL soon!
I too like the diagonal going in different directions, it make it look more freestyle and less matchy matchy.
Stars in green and blue => Really looking forward to seeing the finished quilt!
Looks great! I feel the same way about my star points and my directional prints.
Ooooh! I like all of these, but I think the turquoise is my favorite. 🙂
Looks great anyway! I started cutting mine out, but I think I’ll be too impatient and sew them up as I go :). I love the solid star, it should be fun for quilting.
Personally I like the way it is too, great movement. There are so many great QALs going on in QBL, wish I could do them all….sniff.
PS hit send too fast: LOVE (of course you knew this) your colours, can’t go wrong with blue and green IMHO
Oh you are using some of my favorite fabrics – that Mercury is one I have at least four different colors of, and of course the cotton & steel is awesome, too. Fun piece.
Great stars, I really like how the diagonal print in the outer parts of the star are all aligned towards the center. I think it is a cool look.
Great fabric choices! Love the green and blue together!
