12wt Aurifil {Sunday Stash}

I have had an idea for a mini quilt for a while, and I am about to get the opportunity to give it a try, thanks so much to the generosity of Aurifil who donated the thread for this project. I will be using 12wt Aurifil thread on my longarm for some free motion quilting in this project. I am close to getting all the settings dialed in using coordinating 50wt thread, so soon I will be ready start using this glorious selection of rainbow colored thread.

This thread isn’t destined to sit in my stash for long. I’ll be sure to be back and tell you all about what I learned along the way with the project, so stay tuned!

What about you, have you added anything exciting to your stash lately? I’ll be linking up with Sunday Stash to find out.

I’m keen to see how you get on with this thread. I have thought about using it for hand quilting, but haven’t found it easy to track down in this country.

  2. Vera says:

No addition on my side but yours is yummy 🙂

  3. Kitty Wilkin says:

Ooooh you probably already know how I feel about this stash addition, but I’ll tell you anyway 😉 Gorgeous rainbow, and Aurifil 12wt thread is the best!! I’m intrigued that you are planning on using it in your long arm and look forward to seeing the progress!! I do have a few stash additions–I need to get them blogged!! Another Quilter’s Planner photo shoot today, so hopefully next week!

Ooh, I love their 12 wt. thread. Good luck! I’m excited to see what these beautiful spools become!

  5. Jayne Willis says:

I’ll be watching! I always look forward to seeing your new ideas and if its a rainbow, it’ll certainly be fantastic! What’s more exciting than finally being able to start a project you have been thinking about forever too!

  6. Paige says:

Using 12 wt. on your longarm, I definitely want to see this! Beautiful colors!

I am looking forward to hearing how you like it. I’ve recently become a convert to Aurifil through your and Wendy Sheppard’s blogs. I had no idea what I had been missing! Aurifil is not available around here, and I had never heard of it. So far, I only have the 50wt Mako thread in neutrals and a few limited colors and one spool of 40wt in a neutral.
    Enjoy!

  8. I’m curious about your project with the 12 wt on the longarm! I’ve used it for hand quilting, but I haven’t tried it in my machine, yet.

  9. I can’t wait to see what you do with this thread. It makes me excited to get my gorgeous pack from Aurifil (thanks again!).

  10. I added Fat Quarter Shop’s Aurifil finishing sets in 12wt and used it to add some hand-stitching to a small quilt. I really like it and will use it again! I’m looking forward to seeing how it works with your long-arm.

  11. Good Morning Yvonne! The rainbow of colors are lovely, I will be watching for updates on what you are doing with them! I recently bought some white on white with paisleys on it. Nothing extra exciting, but I thought it was pretty and after using about half of it in the project that I have, I believe in the next day or so I will go back in and buy some more of it. LOL. I never have enough whites or blacks on hand. Thank you for sharing and have a fantastic creative day!

  12. Can’t wait to see what project you will make with this! I, too, will be interested to see how it works on your longarm. I finally have the tension set perfectly for my 40 wt. on my longarm so don’t know whether I’d want to mess that up to try a different weight.

  13. Yay to pretty coloured thread!
I bought a new lamp, ruler and rotary cutters as we shipped the old ones to the holiday house.

I think my heart may have stopped for a moment when I saw the pictures of this beautiful thread. So pretty 🙂

  15. Mmmmm!! Such pretty colors!! 🙂

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
