Picking the fabric and placement for the center star of the Rainbow Rose QAL went faster than I expected. I didn’t have quite the right mix of left over pieces, so I needed to add 4 new fabric selections.
The new fabric I introduced are the Blue Alison Glass Mercury print, a Purple star print, Orange Pearl Bracelet, and Green Pearl Bracelet.
I am especially crushing on that center pinwheel block with all the polka dots. I got as close as I could to a purple polka dot; it seems to work pretty well.
I did deviate from the layout and decided to keep the same rainbow order / direction in my center star as in the outer ring. I actually did not really think much about that decision; I just knew it was how I wanted to proceed!
Can you tell I am really crushing on this rainbow?? Linking up with the Rainbow Rose QAL.
Yvonne, I really like your fabric choices. I cant wait to see the final quilt. I like polka dots and stripes together.I love the colors that you are using nice and bright and they look like a rainbow. Have a great day.
Looks fantastic.
Wonderful job Yvonne! I really love how you have intentionally picked the fabrics for this quilt. The rainbow is evenly saturated and creates a quilt that is really pleasing to the eye!
I don’t have many polka dots in my stash but really want to get some – I really like how they work in your block and the centre looks great!
Oh my gosh!! The colour matching is perfect!!! Beautiful block and you can’t beat a rainbow to make one smile!!
Wonderful progress!
Oh my, I’m in love with this project. Rainbow and polkadots are right up my alley. I immediately noticed that your center was rotated from what most people have been posting. I prefer it with everything lined up in color order, but that is just my OCD talking.
I love the dots in the centre, they seem to just radiate out. I like your choice of keeping the colours lined up.
Your polka dots are wonderful, this will be a thoroughly modern quilt, yet dots are so traditional too.
Good Morning Yvonne! I bet you are thrilled for signing up for this quilt along! Each of your fabrics are blending together perfectly and yes, I think your dark purple choice works wonderfully with all of the polka dots. This is going to be a spectacular quilt. Thank you so much for sharing your progress with us! Have a fantastic creative day!
You are right, you polka dots really give that special zest to your quilt, it looks great!
Love how this looks.
I just love all the prints you’ve chosen for your Rainbow Rose. I’m quite impressed how quickly this quilt along has come together.
Your fabric choices are spot on. 🙂 I love the look of polka dots but rarely purchase any for some reason. Maybe it’s time I go dottie!
This is just so pretty! Very vibrant choice of colors, they transition so nicely!
I’ve not quite understood, but is the rose QAL for your followers or is that something you are doing yourself? It is beautiful!
Beautiful! I would have kept the center the same order as well.
Oh Yvonne, I like your deviation! Just the way it should be! 🙂
You can never have too many polka dots.
I considered doing the same thing with the colours in the centre star but chickened out at the end. 🙁
Your polka dots are looking so effective, and I haven’t noticed any other versions of the centre but I’m struggling to imagine the colours going the opposite way, your version seems very natural.
