My online friend Ruth @Charly & Ben’s Crafty Corner is hosting a Quilt Along through the Modern Quilters Ireland blog. This week is the introduction to the Rainbow Rose Quilt Along and the instructions are for fabric selection. I had a lot of fun gathering my materials!
The requirements I put on myself were to shop my stash. So the first thing I did was evaluate my background fabric options. I don’t have anything with more than 2 yards in my stash currently, so I knew I would be making the baby version which calls for 5-inch charm squares. Knowing I had several charm packs, I started with a base of the Modern Basics from Michael Miller Fabrics and then cut extra 5-inch squares from my stash to fill in the gaps as best I could.
Looking over my fabric selection, I think I might work to refine the transition from dark teal to light teal to bright blue. Hmmm.
You still have about a day to make your selections and join the link up for the Rainbow Rose QAL if you want to join me!
Linking up with the Rainbow Rose QAL and Sunday Stash.
That’s more than a stash . That’s a shop in the attic.!
Nice fabric pull Yvonne: I’m working on pulling mine together now. I could do a decent job with fat quarters but I’m also making the Baby version….but enlarging to a lap so I’m going to raid the scrap bins and see how I do there.
That fabric pull is lovely. I always have troubles mixing my blues. There are so many variations.
I really like how there is a white dot square evenly throughout your rainbow. I can’t wait to see this grow.
your fabrics are so pretty, I love them all
Good Morning Yvonne! Such fun, bright and cheery fabrics you chose for this Quilt Along! I will have to go and check out the link you provided and see if it is something I would want to do. I am always attracted to fabrics such as the ones you chose. Thank you for sharing and do have a fantastic creative day!
That is a very pretty selection. I’m not sure I can do this QAL. I’d love to, but I have 6 WIP’s.
Ooh, this is a pretty pull. Love the plums and the little bit of mint peeking out. Can’t wait to see this one!
Wow, a really beautiful rainbow! Is the background going to be white?
Looks wonderful Yvonne! Your quilt is going to be wonderful.
This looks like fun, but I am still struggling to make time to fit everything in. No new projects for me for a while, and certainly nothing with a timetable.
Gorgeous bundle of fabrics! I will be watching this QAL to see everyones creations 🙂 I have a few new projects on my list right now since I have 3 swaps completed (2 still need to be mailed). I have the easiest time completing those for whatever reason – they’re just so fun! Next is on to a SuperTote for myself then a quilt. I hardly ever do selfish sewing but these have been on my list for some time so i’d like to mark them off.
Ive never participated in a QAL before but i also want to do that in the future! Cant wait to see what you make!
Lovely fabric choices Yvonne – I’ll be coming in with my fabric choices just under the wire tonight!
Thanks a million Yvonne for linking up – looks beautiful! Last year I was obsessed with collecting nice purples – this year I seem to looking for sky blues!
Very pretty colors! I love all the dots!
I’m joining in with the baby version too, but will be lagging a bit behind. You did an excellent job with your rainbow of fabric squares Yvonne! It’s going to be beautiful!
This looks like fun. I love rainbow-colored quilts, and the block is so familiar to me. I love how you arranged your colors from saturated to speckled; a great choice of fabrics!
Oh I wish I could participate but summer is always hard for me to do much sewing. I really like your fabric pulls, I’m such a pushover for polkadots!
I love your fabric selection! They look so pretty together,
This is another one I’ve seen a few photos for in passing, and it really does look gorgeous, although some (in our house!) might say hard to go wrong with a rainbow!
