May Stash Bee & MayIsForMakers

In Hive 9 of the Stash Bee for May, the queen requested a Granny Square block. She just asked for bright colors but let us choose our own color palettes…

Is anyone surprised I grabbed blue or went with a color gradient? Yeah, me either. 😉

I also want to share the second pattern I purchased during #MayIsForMakers. I chose to buy the Sea Star quilt pattern by Cheryl @Meadow Mist Designs.

Sea Star by Meadow Mist Designs

Cheryl makes amazing patterns, and I just love the combination of a star and plus block in this design. I have a hunch this pattern might come in handy for a baby quilt in a few months. <3

And I am laughing at myself again. Did I just by her pattern because it is in a colorway that speaks to me? Look at the two images in my post today. Ah, well, at least I know what I like, right???

Good choices all the way around! Hmm, I’ve never made a granny square block before. Might have to remedy that one day.

  2. Ha! I find myself doing the same thing when browsing patterns. I’m looking at one now that is in gradients of blue/green and I’ll probably push that ‘Buy’ button. I love the design, buti it was the color choice on the cover quilt that caught my eye. 🙂

  3. Good Morning Yvonne! I love the blue fabrics you chose for the Granny Square block, it is lovely! Plus, I think you made a great decision to purchase the pattern you did; I really like the plus blocks, they make the pattern really unique. Thanks for sharing and have a fantastic creative day!

The heart wants what the heart wants…yours loves blue 🙂 But I’m really glad that it does, because I love the fabrics in the Granny Square block.

  5. Thank you so much again Yvonne!

I’ve made quilts and bought patterns based on the colourway myself.

I do love some good blues myself! And I’ve had a granny square quilt on my to-do list for a while, your block looks great! 🙂

I’m in the same boat – blue just speaks to me. Your bee block is beautiful – you nailed the gradient and your piecing is awesome as usual!

Love both the block & quilt! There’s just something about blue……

  11. Hey, stick with what you love, right? Those blues are always so calming and definitely suit you. Great pattern choice.

    Gorgeous block and pattern!

Yes, it looks like you. Maybe you should take off your cobalt glasses. Just kidding. I always slip a little signature Kaffe print into a bee block if I can. Or green. That way they know it’s ‘me’

Ha, yes! It can be very difficult to not be influenced by the colour presented to us when buying so many things I think. And I would find just the name of it a big hook too, anything with ‘sea’ and ‘star’ in it has me half way won over before I even see it!

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
