My Quilts
I was extremely lucky to have 2 quilts on display at QuiltCon 2016: Triangle Transparency and Sunburst. I am looking forward to sharing more about Sunburst, but that post will have to wait for another day. My quilts arrived home safe and sound on Tuesday, and included were the description sheets and judging forms for each quilt.

One of the features of the quilt that has not been shared before but that you can see in the image above is the binding for the quilt. I really love that detail.

Getting to see my quilts hanging in the show, next to so many other fabulous quilts and quilters that I admire was a wonderful experience. I don’t know if I will get quilts juried in again (hey, you never know!), so I tried to enjoy and savor the experience.
I am glad my quilts are home; time to consider what to do with them next!
QuiltCon Quilts
In order to keep my QuiltCon wrap up posts from stretching out for a week, I am also going to present a few other details about the quilts and QuiltCon here. At the awards ceremony, prior to announcing the winning quilts, Jacquie Gering and the Modern Quilt Guild presented some statistics for QuiltCon 2016 that I found very interesting.

I was proud to be one of the 702 individual members attending the show.
I was at the awards ceremony to support my friend Renee @Quilts of a Feather. Her quilting work on the Albuquerque Modern Quilt Guild banner won the Best Machine Quilting, Frameless award (she quilts on her domestic Janome)! The award was sponsored by Babylock, and here is Renee up on stage as the audience got to cheer for her awesome accomplishment.

Walking the show, it was a delight to recognize the hard work and beautiful efforts of so many of the online community. Instead of focusing on my favorites, I thought I would focus on the photos I was able to take of the artists with their quilts. <3

Great post. Loved seeing the quilts and their makers. Regarding your wonderful quilts I revisited from your September post the judges’ comments for Triangle Transparency when you submitted it to your local fair. They make an interesting comparison! The blog comments about traditional quilts being judged against modern from a different judging perspective hold very true. In the UK I’ve just discovered that our major national quilt show, the Festival of Quilts, will this year for the first time have a modern category. Just the one, no subdivision of that category, but it’s a start!

I went to QuiltCon in 2015 and was completely overwhelmed by the beauty and talent of the quilts on display, and can see this year was no different! Congratulations on having not one but two of your beautiful creations in the show and thank you for sharing all this wonderful inspiration!
Your quilts were beautiful. If someone asked me if I had any inteest in transparency quilts, I’d say no. Yet I really like both quilts and would love to have a home where I could display them. Thank you for sharing the comments from the judges. I belong to two guilds and one of them hires a judge to judge the quilts for any members who submit them for judging. Both times I learned something, something I thought was good was reinforced as being good, the judge mentioned something I hadn’t thought of, and a weak area was noted.

I loved seeing both of your quilts in person! The straight line quilting on the triangle transparency quilt is amazing! I know I get kind of cranky and judgemental of SLQ sometimes, but I can’t imagine the quilts you got into QuiltCon with any other kind of quilting. I love that you know when SLQ is right for a quilt and you dive in, the results are fantastic! I had so much fun hanging out with you over the weekend, I’m so glad we spent more time together than last year.

Interesting to see the “+” marks on your judging sheet. Mine had none of those, just a few positive comments, so I was wondering how they scored the “judging considerations.”

It is silly, but I like the photo of Renee and Molli together simply because of the way it shows people who share a common interest but live far, far away from each other in the same space, just hanging out and swapping notes.
