I was thrilled to receive the final instructions from Cheryl @Meadow Mist Designs for the Midnight Mystery Quilt. The 72-inch square quilt top came together really quickly with the large 24-inch square blocks, and I love it!
I think I am going to suck it up and use more of my hoarded Riley Blake Rocket Blast in Navy for the backing and binding. I bought it to use it, right?

It turned out so nice. Love the colors!
It’s striking, just gorgeous! Use that Riley Blake, and you won’t regret it, not even once.
Looks great! I love your color choices! Can’t wait to see how you quilt it!
It’s very striking. I’m also interested in how you will quilt it.
love the blue and yellow, beautiful
Good for you for choosing to use a precious fabric from your stash. That’s why we buy it, right? The quilt top looks lovely. It’s fun to see that royal blue print with the swirly stars again!
Oh man, Yvonne! Love how both of the blue fabrics around the stars make them swirl!! You are seriously great at picking out fabrics for mystery quilts!!! 🙂
This turned out great! I love how the darkest fabric has the arcs/swirls going every which way!
Really sparkles! Yes, absolutely, you should use the Riley Blake Rocket Blast on the back.
Looks great as always! I am so behind on mine. Slowly catching up. I must learn not to overextend myself but everything always looks like such fun!
t looks great!!! I am behind on mine but hope to work on it some later this week.
Turned out great, Yvonne! Love the secondary design between the stars. The Rocket Blast fabric is a perfect choice for the back!
Another great quilt, Yvonne! Maybe a gopher’s eye view of several rockets igniting and taking off all at once ? 🙂
So wonderful! Oh man, this is so much fun!
That is quite cool. I definitely think you should use the Riley Blake for the binding..it will be perfect. I can’t wait to join the next midnight mystery quilt – it really looks like fun.
I love your version! I can’t wait to see how you decide to quilt it.
It looks great. I think the Rocket Blast will look great on the back. I’ve started piecing — I’ve got the columns done.
Yvonne, your quilt turned out beautiful! The blues and yellows are spectacular together. It is really a nice change of pace to do a big block every now and then. It has actually been quite awhile for me. Your Rocket Blast fabric will be a great choice for backing fabric. Thank you for sharing and have a fantastic evening!
Love the quilt top, especially the contrast with the yellows.
I really like the navy and how it swirls around the stars – really nice choice!
Wow! This looks amazing. You hav been busy. I love seeing what you have been up to.
At 24 inches, that is a whopper of a block! Yes, use the backing fabric you love. As you say, you bought it to use it.
The fabrics you chose ended up working perfect for this quilt! It came together so nicely, it was fun watching it develop.
Your mystery top is beautiful. Isn’t it funny how we love a particular fabric but are afraid to use it? In the end it will look great no matter what. Any special plans for this quilt?
I don’t think you could have chosen more perfect fabrics for this one, and definitely yes for the binding.
Love the colors you picked! Totally agree, my theme this year is going to be bought it, use it. I need to sew my stash 🙂 Looking forward to seeing how you quilt this one.
Did you end up backing it that way, Yvonne? If you did, kudos! I don’t think I could with such an aprospo hoarded fabric!
