Patreon: Support Quilting Jetgirl

Do Something Today

Today, I am taking a step to meet a short term AND potentially several long term goals that I made for 2016: I am going to try something new related to blogging, I will continue to cultivate the “seeking rejection” philosophy, and I will ultimately work on cultivating a gentleness for myself.

Today, I am announcing that I have created a Quilting Jetgirl Patreon page.

Creating

Today, I am asking for your support.

Patreon is a crowdfunding platform popular with artists. It allows artists to obtain funding from their fans or patrons, on a recurring basis, or per artwork.

Please visit the Quilting Jetgirl Patreon page for the full details, but for as little as 50 cents a month, you can pledge to support Quilting Jetgirl. At each level of pledged support ($0.50/month, $1/month, $3/month, and $5/month), there are rewards that you receive in return:

Rewards

I realize that adding another monthly expense to your budget might not be ideal. You can support Quilting Jetgirl through other one-time-payment methods:

  • Purchase one of my quilt patterns available via Craftsy.
  • Are you interested in a quilt “reward” for your investment? Consider purchasing an item in my Etsy store.

You can pledge a little or a lot. Remember ANY amount helps. If only 25 of my followers contribute just $1 a month, that will amount to $25 a month that I can devote to increasing the value of the way I provide content on my website. If 50 of my followers contribute $1 a month, I will be able to expand out and have enough support to fund all my website improvement goals AND begin investing in printed patterns.

The beauty of Patreon is that it is completely transparent. You can see how much money I am receiving each month and how I am using those funds.

My number one goal is going to continue to be to provide amazing content and build a wonderful online quilting community here at Quilting Jetgirl. I will continue to agree to mutually beneficial and fun quilt swaps. In terms of upcoming content, I am excited about the tutorial I have ready to share with you tomorrow, the pattern testing that is on-going for a Red Herring quilt pattern, and other awesome events I have worked hard to have lined up for us this year.

Thank you so much for being a part of my community. Any support is warmly and greatly appreciated (and note that monetary support is not required: comments are especially welcomed and included as support)! I have created a badge if you would be willing to share your support.

I have also created a new Patrons page where I can thank people directly for their support (with their permission), so please stop by and visit with those who are helping to grow the community.

Great idea Yvonne. You put so much work into your blog and supporting the rest of the quilting community. So many options for support, it will need a little thought on my part.

  9. How did I miss this post? I’m glad I scrolled back and found it. First of all, congrats to you for this creative and extremely well thought out idea. Also for throwing yourself out there and moving past that vulnerable feeling that you likely had when you published this post. I had not heard of this funding platform. But I totally support you.
I really feel like, as much as a person should, we need to support the services that we love and rely on. I regularly give to NPR, the library, services that are nonprofit and provide so much. Which is what you do for us. Especial over this past year. Thank you Yvonne. I hope this helps you move to the next level. Your plan is well thought out and impressive. 2016 will be a great year for you and as such, a great year for us! ☺️

This sounds like a really good way to try and grow the financial side of your blogging, I hope it works brilliantly. You could be starting a new trend for quilting blogs here. And I love your opening quote.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
