Linky Party

Best of 2015

My friend Cheryl @Meadow Mist Designs is hosting a fun linky party called “Best of 2015“. When she announced the party at the beginning of December, I was really excited and knew I would want to take part. If you are interested in joining, simply write a blog post highlighting your “best” 5 posts from 2015 and linkup.  There is no set way to pick your best, you can pick your posts anyway you would like, some examples include:

  • Posts with the most views
  • Posts with the most comments
  • Posts that provoked the best discussions
  • Posts showing your favorite 2015 finishes
  • Posts of your best tutorials
  • Posts that are simply your favorites

The link party opens today and will be open for 1 week ending on Saturday, January 2nd.

5. Most Viewed Finish Quilt Post – Lucent Quilt – MQG Fabric Challenge

Lucent

Lucent

Lucent was my first fabric challenge quilt, and I really enjoyed coming up with something special to show off the Cottage Garden prints. I pushed myself to learn Y Seams in order to keep the prints as a single cut of fabric, and I am excited about the large, graphic nature of this quilt (the quilt top finished at 80 1/2-inches square).

4. Most Popular Original Design – Triangle Transparency

Triangle Transparency

I was so thrilled when Triangle Transparency won the Online Quilt Festival for Original Design in the spring. Triangle Transparency is a quilt and design that I am still excited by, and I am looking forward to exploring more transparency designs in the future.

3. Most Viewed Tutorial – Quarter Log Cabin Mini Quilt {Tutorial}

Quarter Log Cabin Mini Quilt Tutorial

Quarter Log Cabin Mini Quilt Tutorial

I was inspired to write this post after creating a mini quilt for a private swap, and this tutorial has apparently been quite the crowd pleaser! The tutorial includes fabric requirements, cutting and piecing instructions for a 28.5-inch square finished mini quilt. There are also several suggested layouts, but with quarter log cabin blocks, there are almost an endless number of possibilities for playing with layouts on your design wall.

2. Most Viewed Page – Tutorials

Tutorials

With over 40 Tutorials, Tips, and Tech Talks, I put a lot of effort into expanding my Tutorials this year, and I am excited to know that people are using them as resources! Also, many thanks to Stephanie @Late Night Quilter for hosting the Tips and Tutorials Tuesdays linky party which really prompted me to continue to work on developing quality tutorials and tips over the year.

1. Most Viewed Post – Tips for Squaring a Quilt

Tips for Squaringa Quilt

This post took off and has been shared by several groups on Facebook and repinned on Pinterest a lot. The tips really are just related to the tools that I like to use (hint: a carpenter’s square) and how I use them to effectively square up my quilts after they are quilted. There is also really great content in the comments, so don’t miss out on the additional information the community has provided there!

Best of 2015 Linky Party

I had a lot of fun learning about what spoke the most to the viewers of my blog as I put this post together, and I am looking forward to seeing if the trends are similar for everyone else.

What a great quilt year you’ve had Yvonne! I’ll have you know I have fabric pulled, cut and ready to piece for your Lucent pattern just as soon as I have a block of time to dedicate to it 🙂 Thank you for hosting the Thankful Thursday link up. While I didn’t participate in it often it sure helped to serve as a reminder that being thankful and expressing gratitude is important in life; something I really didn’t embrace until this past year and I link to think you helped with that 🙂

Yvonne, you have made so many wonderful contributions to the art of quilting this year! I think just in tutorials alone you must be one of the most giving people I’ve ever met. Triangle Transparency is a favorite of mine. If I recall correctly, it was your Tessellated leaves that drew me in. 🙂 I hope you meet all your goals in 2016!
