It is my turn to request blocks from Hive 2 this month (I posted my Love Letters block tutorial yesterday). I have been having so much fun making a quilt block for someone each month that it was a bit sad to wake up on Monday and not have a tutorial to work on. So I decided to follow Carla @Granny Maud’s Girl‘s lead and Gate Crash (she is in Hive 7 and made a block for Caroline in our group back in January). I chose to make a block for Diana @Red Delicious Life in Hive 4 in exchange for the two blocks she made and sent for two very dear friends of mine earlier in the year.
I haven’t met an HST block that I don’t like, and I had a lot of fun making this block. I might just keep gate crashing – it’s fun! 🙂
I was working on a HST project on the weekend that might make you question your fondness for them. Imagine 342 of them in an area 16 x 24 inches …
The color placement makes this block so interesting! HSTs take some time, but they look so good. Love this block. Keep up the gate crashing! 🙂
What a happy block! And so perfectly pieced. Looks like you are having fun!
I think I need to join one of these groups — you seem to be having so much fun!
Love the white-on-white print!!!
I absolutely love that center fabric! Beautiful!

Okay so I thought ‘gate crashing’ meant you were making the block right out of the gates (1st of the month?), but here it sounds like gate crashing is where you’re crashing through into another hive and making someone a block just because?
Thank you for aligning the vertical stripes all through the blocks! I get uptight when people just randomly bang stuff together with stripes every which way (not in a quilt police kind of way though).
Love this block – the colors you picked are just perfect! I’m so starting to have bee envy from everyone’s posts recently. I’m going to have to get involved the next time someone starts one up! Poke me with a stick when it happens in case I don’t notice 🙂
Sounds like fun! Love this quilt block!
