Blocks for Mr. L
Linky Party, Thankful Thursday

Quilty Thankful Thursday #18

I am extremely grateful that an online quilting friend reached out to me to ask if I wanted to have a mini quilt swap with her last week. I was super excited to be asked, and it really was a great creative challenge. I hope she likes it, but I need to start thinking of the fun extras to include when I ship it off. Do you have any ideas or suggestions for what makes great swap extras?

I am also so excited to see the blocks for Miss A and Mr. L growing each week. One more week (or so) to get your blocks in the mail, and then I’ll spend some time making a few extra blocks and getting the count evened up. 🙂

What are YOU thankful for this week? Here’s how to link up (link up open for 48 hours on Thursday and Friday US Pacific time):

  1. Link up any blog post the past week that discusses something that you are thankful for, no matter how big or small (Did you win a giveaway? Did your seam ripper save the day? Did a friend do something simple and kind that made your day?).
  2. To link an Instagram photo, click the Instagram icon at the bottom of the link-up screen, and use the URL of your IG feed as the link (for example, my URL is http://www.instagram.com/quiltingjetgirl). Please hashtag #QuiltyThankfulThursday.
  3. If you are linking to a blog post, please link back here to my blog somewhere in your post.
  4. Comment on at least a few of the other Thankful Thursday links, either IG or blog—commenting on the two or three links directly before yours works well to make sure everyone gets comments!

Your design wall is looking fabulous! Seeing the giving nature of quilters always makes me thankful and gives me faith in humanity 🙂

They are both so fun to look at! I love the beach umbrella and little white hearts.

  3. I finally got mine in the mail yesterday…

So nice to see your collection of blocks growing. Today I am especially thankful for good health. It is hard to sew with a head cold making your thinking muddy.

That IS something to be thankful for Yvonne.
The blocks for the children are looking wonderful together!

I’m hoping other people are going to come up with some good ideas for extra swap goodies, but how about maybe something edible to munch whilst sewing – perhaps a bar of dark chocolate, some cute buttons or ribbon/ricrac, some fabric scraps, a little drawstring bag maybe, a favourite recipe written on a pretty card, some washi tape, some gift tags or labels, maybe a quick make like a mug rug, book mark or fabric flower, little hanging decoration, lip balm, tea bags – all depending on what you know/can find out about your swap partners’ likes/dislikes. I just surprised myself with how many things I thought of! I also like the idea (if you’re not close to each other geographically) of sending something local – possibly something foody or maybe some pretty shells or something else special to your area?

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
