Racetrack Quilt {Pattern Release}

I am happy to announce that my Racetrack quilt pattern is available for purchase starting today!  Racetrack is a scrappy, fat quarter friendly quilt, and the pattern contains instructions for both fat quarters and quarter yard cuts of fabric. The pattern has options for 5 different quilt sizes: baby, lap, throw, twin, and queen. The steps have side-by-side illustrations, and I am excited to also share several alternate layout ideas with you!

While the inspiration behind the quilt was to represent a traditional quarter-mile track, I think the pattern has many other fun options. By fussy cutting a feature fabric, the track portion of the pattern can act as a picture frame. Or by using the same fabric for the track and center, a “filled in” or “raffle ticket” pattern can be created.

Alternate Layout Ideas

The pattern would make a really fun child’s play mat; I can just picture toy vehicles rolling around on the tracks! And if you have a friend or family member who is an ace at track and field, this pattern would be an excellent opportunity to personalize a quilt for them.

I would like to thank Cheryl @Meadow Mist Designs for reviewing my pattern and providing valuable feedback and critique. If you make a Racetrack quilt, I hope you consider letting me know by using the hashtag #RacetrackQuilt and tagging me @QuiltingJetgirl when sharing on Instagram, or by sending me an email [jetgirl8(at)gmail(dot)com] with a photograph or link to a blog post about your quilt!

To introduce Racetrack, the pattern will be available in my Payhip Store for $6 through Sunday, March 8th, before it goes up to its regular price.

    Congrats on 300 posts your prolific poster you! This is such a wonderful pattern. It’s a contemporary shape and like you mentioned, great for bold or novelty prints and that’s a hard trait to find in quilt patterns sometimes.

  4. Congratulations! Getting a pattern out is a lot of work. Nice job!

  5. I really like the filled in look. This pattern would also make a neat memory quilt by using those photo transfers inside each race track. And appliquéing a different item inside each racetrack would be fun too. Now that I see the complete pattern, I see lots of different possibilities.
