Rachel @Stitched in Color as another mosaic contest, with the theme this time being Ice Parfait. The contest is sponsored by Cuts of Cotton, and I had fun putting together my submissions this afternoon.
My first submission focuses on ice and winter weather, on the coloration of the sky and outdoors after a heavy snow, and on how muted and blurred the world can be when covered by fresh frost. I especially like the subtle textures in this grouping.
L to R, top to bottom: 1. Architextures | Crosshatch | Grey 2. Architextures | Crosshatch | Fog 3. Architextures | Crosshatch | White 4. Architextures | Crosshatch | Lake 5. Doe | Weave | White 6. Doe | Breeze | Sky 7. Doe | Breeze | White 8. Oval Elements | Powder Blue 9. Architextures | Crosshatch | Shadow
My second submission hits the full spectrum of the ice parfait theme, for me. It is a subdued and softly rendered color palette to juxtapose the vibrant and sometimes hard and bright colors of summer.
L to R, top to bottom: 1. Minimalista | Prisma | Watermelon 2. Sun Print | Text | Pumpkin 3. Doe | Ladder Lines | Natural 4. Doe | Lightning | Yarrow 5. Doe | Droplet | Meringue 6. Architextures | Crosshatch | Limestone 7. Squared Elements | Seafoam 8. Doe | Droplet | Sky 9. Architextures | Crosshatch | Shale
And fair warning to anyone looking to join in on the challenge, I had lots of fun but spent over an hour cultivating and documenting my selections. 🙂
I have to stay away from these, they just eat time! The one and only occasion I gave in to temptation I played around with it for over 2 hours! Nice theme for one though, I think I like your first selection best.
This looks like fun! The top one definitely reminds me of snow! The second one reminds me of butter pecan ice cream!
How do you start designing your colors, i would like to dedign my own fabric, & have many ideas, but I don’t know where to start…
Just like a website or bloghing, I want to do those too, do not know code, and don’t know where to start!!! Help is appreciated!
I always love your take on the seasonal fabrics. I tend toward the more traditional, and I love your first selection. 🙂
They are both really pretty and I agree the textures of the ice one look amazing!
Ice is so calming!
Beautiful bundles, I love the cool blues of the first bundle!
That first group is SPOT ON for the colors I feel when I look at the temp and realize it’s well below freezing. Is it summer yet?
Fabric 6 in the first one caught my eye – like water or swirling snow that has been frozen into those horizontal lines! Great choice. Very beautiful with your other selections, too!!
Oooh I love these! But also get totally sucked in 🙂 Lovely picks! I esp love your top mosaic 🙂
