Chelsea @ Patch the Giraffe has a wonderfully reflective post today called Mosaic Me. In it, she challenges us to create a “things you love” mosaic and share what currently makes you happy.
I purposefully stayed away from my quilting / crafting photos – I think you have all seen what I am working on and probably have an inkling of the quilts I love the most (for now). Instead, I culled through my personal photo stash from the past year or two. All the photos below were taken by me except for photos 1, 5, 6, and 7. Photo credit for those images goes to my husband, Michael.
Left to Right, Top to Bottom
- Flying. Seen here with CJ Sturckow preparing to fly in an Extra 300 (the smaller blue winged plane behind us) on my birthday, September 5, 2013.
- Sunset over the Pacific Ocean, Oahu, Hawaii
- Humpback Whale Tail Fluke, Monterey Bay, California
- My husband, Michael, suited up as Flight Test Engineer in Proteus next to pilot Clint Nichols (aka Clintosan), April 2013.
- Snorkeling with my husband, Oahu, Hawaii
- Hiking in the Sierra Mountains
- Driving the 1943 GPW my husband restored for the first time
- Lenticular clouds over the Sierra Mountains
- My goofy husband
- Jeeping / Off-roading in Death Valley. The Maggiolina on the top of our Jeep is a pop up tent!
- Sunset at Ruby Beach, Washington
- Aerial photograph of the Pacific Ocean from a helicopter, Maui, Hawaii
I surprise myself by how much I love adventure. I’ll hop on any helicopter, gyroplane, or airplane if I trust the pilot. I love swimming, snorkeling, and scuba diving. Spending time alone in the mountains hiking or Jeeping with my husband is one of my favorite summer weekend activities. I am captivated by nature – from the tiny chorus frogs that manage to survive in the desert here to the majestic and beautiful cloud formations that we get treated to. I love to do these things, and I love them in balance with my cozy, quiet, crafting life at home. I am thankful to have the opportunity to explore all of these sides of myself.
This was a wonderful and joyous experience. If you want to create a mosaic of the things you love, I recommend you try the online Mosaic Maker by Big Huge Labs.
Love this idea – great mosaic! I went up in a microlight when i lived in Seattle for a year and loved it! I’d love to go up in hot air balloon!
Lovely insights. I’ll hop on any helicopter, gyroplane or aeroplane too (have I told you about my attempts to learn to fly, crew on a tall ship and complete my diving ticket?), but then I will rapidly remember I become violently motion sick. My dreams of becoming adventurous turn to dust and I am back on the couch quietly sewing.
No one makes me wish we traveled more than you guys do! You guys have the coolest adventures. And you both have some gorgeous photos of things!
You are adventurous. I loved this peek into your life.
Madame Adventure! Thank you for sharing. Even though I may not share my “happy”, I love seeing others posters’ adventures and thoughts!
great idea and I love your photos, you wild thing!!!
Lovely and fun pics. You created great mosaic. It’s also fun to get to know some other sides of you 🙂
These are lovely and what a great idea!! I love adventure, too, but having kids has put a bit of a damper on that. I know many people adventure with their kids, but we just haven’t gotten that brave yet. Hopefully soon. My kids make me, happy, too, though!! Thank you for sharing your mosaic!
You have been to some really beautiful places, and adventures have got to be good, how sad it would be to live a life with none, so glad you’re getting lots!
So great to see your adventurous side! Looks like you live your life to it’s fullest!
I love seeing your adventurous side! Then I can live vicariously through you, haha! Great to see a couple enjoying themselves and each other and the world!
What beautiful memories. I like that you showed another aspect of your life and personality in this post. 🙂
