After about a 2 week hiatus from sewing due to unexpected life events and being without my sewing machine, I was really thankful for the November instructions for the Foothills Mystery Quilt from Cheryl@Meadow Mist Designs. This month we combined the Square in a Square blocks made in October with many of the HSTs made in September to create Diamond Blocks. I am really enjoying how high contrast my color choices are, and I like the secondary diamond pattern formed by the way the blocks are arranged below (not to say this is how they will be used, but it is neat to pick out different patterns). I am really enjoying how things are starting to come together in the Mystery Quilt, and I am really excited to see what comes next!
It was like therapy getting to sit down at my machine and just do some piecing. My hands shook a lot at first and I had to take a lot of breaks, but it was good to start trying to get back into a normal routine. Tomorrow I plan to get back to piecing work on Tessellated Leaves.
Also, I finished sewing at a good time tonight – my bobbin and spool of thread were both close to being used up!

So glad you’re back sewing, perfect timing with this one!
Your diamond blocks are stunning! I can’t wait to see what is next as well! I laughed when I saw your bobbin – mine typically are like that when I have one block left to finish! Glad to see you are back at it 🙂
It’s great to see you back in the saddle again … happy sewing 🙂
You had to appreciate your sewing all the more! Nice, bold color choices, and the pattern rocks!
Nice job as always.
Your blocks are looking great! And it is always better to finish almost empty rather than almost done. How many times have you run out of bobbin with less than ten inches to go?
Ooh, these look fun! I’ve never done a mystery quilt, but maybe I should. One of these days. I bet it’s really fun. But maybe stressful? Have you done one before this?
Your diamonds look great, look how they stand out!
Great that you’re back 🙂
Hows the machine going for you? Love the impact of the yellow/gold on dark like that.
It’s looking great!
I love your diamonds and your color choices are great.
Love the nuances of the yellow fabric… just to see on the 2nd sight.
These are looking good! I’m glad you are getting back on track.
