I have pieced one third of the Tessellated Leaves quilt top (3 rows). The rows went together very nicely, and I have only had to go back and replace one mis-made HST along the way so far. I taped the completed third up as high on my wall as I could reach (standing on my kitchen chairs), and I was able to get the last row of reds onto the design wall for the first time. The pieced top will drape a bit on the ground when I finally get there.
You know I love tracking and reporting fun statistics about my quilts, and here are a few I just put together for Tessellated Leaves. I have 3 hours in the design (including arranging the color order on my design wall), 6 hours in fabric prep (that was a lot of cutting to do!), and 15 hours in piecing. That means I have already put 24 hours of work into this quilt. Right now I am estimating this quilt will take a total of 80-90 hours to complete, so at least I know I am somewhere over 25% done with the entire quilt. Whew.

That is absolutely stunning. The colorplay is fantastic.
Holy cow! Seeing the bottom even makes a huge BIG AWESOME difference! LOVE LOVE LOVE this thing! Love the design and colors you chose… I am sincerely taken back by it. Can’t wait to see it all put together. It really has a lovely feel with it and it only keeps getting better and better as it comes along.
Oh I do love the look of this one. Beautiful colors and gradations. Can’t wait to see the finished quilt.
This is Super beautiful! Teje
This is beautiful! I really love it and am excited to see more. And your stats are fun, too. I should track more details like that in my sewing. Great work!
Beautiful! I love the color gradient and your “leaves”
It is coming together so nicely! When you says 80-90 hours to complete, do you mean just the top, or the whole quilt? I would guess the whole quilting process would take quite a bit of time on that size of a quilt!
This is looking amazing! I can;t wait to see it finished!
Wow! Just wow!
It is looking so good!! I’m confused as to how it’s getting wider though once you have the blocks sewn together….are you adding other pieces to the squares that are on your wall? Hmmm, I’m going to have to go back to the beginning of your posts on this! 🙂
Okay – forget my previous comment. Well, keep the part about how good your top is looking! 🙂 I should pay closer attention when I’m reading and then I would know the answers to my silly questions…geesh! Seriously Yvonne, I love the way this is turning out.
It’s looking great. I love the stats you share. I think we quilters tend to not realize how long the whole process takes (because we’re enjoying ourselves so much) and it’s really eye-opening to track the time for a couple of projects.
It is coming along nicely. I like the greens, but I think my favorites are the reds
What a beautiful quilt to be working on at this time of year!
I’m not sure, if I asked, but will this pattern be made fir us yo be able to download? I really fell in love with this! I can just see this on my own bed, in my bedroom! Thanks! It is most beautiful!
Well worth all those hours… This is turning out so beautifully! Go Yvonne!
Looks great on the wall, and it’s nice to see the whole color progression. This quilt is going to finish up SO NICELY, really wish I could see it in person! Although, I suppose I could follow the tute and make some of my own blocks…
It’s looking so good!!
This is going to look so cool once it’s finished! What a great project to watch progress.
The colour gradiation (I don’t know if that’s actually a word!) on this one is bang on… looks so good! Do you regularly track the hours you spend on quilts or is it unique to this one?
You have made great progress. Thanks for including the stats. Hopefully it will speed up a little bit. It looks so good!
I’m a little late to this party. . . I’m guessing you have this baby almost wrapped up 😉 It looks fabulous! The fabric you chose is perfect. This is going to be an awesome quilt!
Looks great and I like that you are keeping track of the hours spent!
It’s coming on beautifully. And although you’re only just over quarter through, you’ve got lots of the worst bits out of the way – especially the cutting! – so I reckon that means you’re much further through the process really!
This quilt will absolutely be beautiful!!
Such. Beautiful. Colours.
