Fabric Prep and a Giveaway!!!

It took 6 hours, but I have all the fabric prepared to layout the quilt top for Tessellated Leaves! Yeah! I spread out the work over 2 days, but my lower back is still letting me know that I stood hunched over my cutting board for 6 hours. The aches are nothing a bit of gentle stretching and some yoga won’t cure. Aren’t the fabrics so pretty together?

Tessellated Leaves – Fabric Prep

I have the design concept below for reference. I am super excited to spend the next little bit laying out the fabrics on my design wall to get the gradient and color order just right. It is going to be fun to play with this layout!

Tessellated Leaves - Design

Tessellated Leaves – Design

I cut these fabrics differently than I normally do, so I ended up with 72 selvage edges (2 selvage edges from 36 different fabrics).

The fabrics were all half yard cuts, so most of the edges are 1″ wide by 18-20″ long, although some are several inches wide.

I do not typically use or save my selvage edges, but I know some of my reader’s do. So I am giving away this fun bundle! You can enter to win twice by commenting on this blog post (1 entry) and letting me know how you follow my blog (2nd comment / 2nd entry). If you want to comment but are not interested in the selvage edges, that’s fine, too – just let me know in you comment that you do not have a use for the selvages! International entries welcome, and I will let the random number generator pick a winner at Noon Pacific on Sunday, October 26th.

I love looking at photos of pretty fabrics cut & organised for a project! It’s a bit of a pain to do (often literally as is the case for you with this lot) but it feels great to have all of the work done. Thanks for the chance to win these gorgeous selvages.
