Foothills Mystery Quilt {Fabric Cutting}

I met Cheryl @ Meadow Mist Designs through the 2014 New Quilters Blog Hop sponsored by Beth @ plum and june. Cheryl is hosting the Foothills Mystery Quilt that started in July 2014 and which will run through April 2015. She designed the mystery quilt, and I am really excited to be participating! If you would like to join, you have time to get in on the fun. 🙂 Last month, I selected my fabric and this month Cheryl introduced us to the fabric cutting instructions. Without further ado, here is my fabric (Kona Black, a gray/yellow blender, and yellow fabrics) all cut and ready for the September instructions:

I am a sew and trim to size kind of gal, so I cut some of the pieces larger per Cheryl’s instructions. For instance, if the instructions called for a 4″ square, I went ahead and cut a 4.5″ square. The instructions were easy to follow and I was able to get all my fabric cut in about an hour and a half on Sunday afternoon. I am really excited to see how this comes together! You can follow along with the group by watching Cheryl’s Meadow Mist Designs Flickr Group.

    Good luck with your mystery quilt! Nice color palette; blues and yellows always go so well together. A little bit celestial maybe?

    I am enjoying your progress photos, and look forward to seeing what this turns into! I’d be nervous about doing a mystery quilt, but I’m sure Cheryl’s got a great design.
