Space Age Tumbling Blocks - Pin Basting
Quilts

Space Age Tumbling Blocks {WiP Wednesday}

I completed the quilt top for Space Age Tumbling Blocks on Tuesday morning, and I love how similar the concept image created in EQ5 is to the actual quilt top. Including fabric prep, the quilt top took me 9.5 hours to get to this point, and pre-quilting, it measures 62″ across by 75″ down.

The backing went together very quickly (only a half hour of sewing and pressing) due to the fact that I pieced together 4 yards of the Rocket Age Ad fabric. An hour of basting work later, and this quilt is ready for some free motion quilting!

I needed to practice drawing a rocket pattern for a while before I sat down and started quilting. I am going to “hide” 3 of these rockets across the quilt top and then fill in the space with swirls. This quilt has been such a joy to work on!

    This is my favorite quilt of yours since I’ve been following your blog. I think you’ve done an outstanding job on it. You sound like you are enjoying this quilt as much as I enjoyed doing the D9P for my sister so I’m gonna do the happy dance at my house for you. 😉 You are such an inspiration to me!

  4. Wow that was really quick. The EQ5 really does show a realistic finish doesn’t it? I love that you are going to hide a few rockets in the quilting 🙂

    It is amazing how well your top looks compared to your digital plan. I also love the hidden rockets. I have hidden a single heart and a name before.

I really appreciate the time and thought you take to comment, and I look forward to conversing with you. :)
