Even with all the QuiltCon 2015 registration distractions yesterday, I was able to finish piecing the blocks for the Positive Nap Quilt. I really enjoyed spending time arranging the blocks. I wasn’t sure it was going to be possible, but I was able to keep a fabric from repeating in each row and column. Even better, I was able to sew them together correctly! Ha! 🙂
The pieced blocks ended up at 45.5″ square. I had hoped to add a 3.5″ border and a 5.5″ border to finish out the quilt top, but reviewing the material I had left from the blocks I realized I was going to have to downsize a bit this morning. I ended up cutting a 3″ wide first border (finishing out at 2.5″) and a 4.5″ wide second border (finishing out at 4.25″). I don’t really think of myself as a border kind of quilter, but I really like the way it frames this top!
The quilt top finished out at 59″ square. Now time to figure out the backing. I have enough white left over that I thought I would do some reverse blocks for a pieced block or stripe in the back, and I need to dig through my stash to find enough material to piece it all together! Yay for using up my stash!
And in other totally exciting, make me dance in my living room and jump up and down news… I was moved off the waitlist for my first choice workshop and into the workshop for QuiltCon 2015. HOLY COW!! I am beyond excited and stunned. I seriously thought there was no way I would get in… please, please, please put yourself on a waitlist! You never know what might happen!!!! 🙂 😀
