I pulled a set of fabrics on Sunday afternoon that I wanted to work with this week. I thought I had a plan for a pattern I wanted to use, but this morning I tossed that idea and went looking on Pinterest for inspiration. I came across this wonderful tutorial in the Moda Back Shop: Positively Perfect Nap Quilt. The pattern was done by April Rosenthal, and after reading her bio, I feel like we must be twins. Seriously, I could have written much of what she says.
Reviewing her directions, I knew I was lacking the full compliment of required background fabric based on what I had on hand, so I chose to modify the pattern a bit. I am using 3.5″ wide strips instead of 2.5″. That means I am cutting 3.5″ by 9.5″ and 3.5″ by 3.5″ blocks for my pieces. With the material I had on hand, I am making a 5-by-5 center piece for the quilt top. I then plan (hope?) to add a 3.5″ wide border and a 5.5″ border…. IF I have enough fabric! So I’ll be winging that a bit as I make more progress this week.
I had a long weekend away from sewing, so it feels good to be back behind the machine today. It wasn’t much of a break, but I do feel renewed and excited to be sewing again. It was a nice surprise to feel and enjoy this excitement this afternoon when I started working on this project. I hope you have a lovely week full of nice surprises, too!
Lovely – really like the stripy blue one and the colour placement overall looks good!
I like the blue and white color scheme, so calming. Looking forward to see how you decide to finish it. Good luck!
Love a good ‘plus’ quilt … and the little skip in my step when I finally get some time behind the machine again 🙂 The blues are very fresh …
I like that this quilt has blocks with just center squares – makes it so calming. Good luck with the borders! I won’t get to sew again until Friday and I’m already missing it. 🙂
I really love your selections of blues.
Your combo is looking really nice.
I love the blues, what is the hoped for finished size?
Cute pattern, and I love the fabrics and colors you chose!
So glad you love the pattern, and I’m so excited to see it finished! Let’s be twins! 🙂
