Quilting Jetgirl
Life

Backstory

I have had a lot of help from my husband this weekend. He is a constant source of support and love, and I really appreciate all the help that he continuously and unquestionably offers. Some of the recent help comes in the form of exciting new branding graphics for my website and promotional material. In particular, I love this vignette that I used to update my “About Me” page:

Quilting Jetgirl – Out of This World Quilts

As most love stories start, so did mine. Many moons ago, a nerdy young girl fell in love with a nerdy young man, Jetman. They had hopes and dreams, but they lived very far apart. However, a short while later Jetgirl married her Jetman, Jetman graduated from college, they got jobs in the jet industry together, and before they knew what had happened, they were off on grand adventures together. They obtained a cat, which they aptly named Puppy. They moved. And moved again. And again. And yet again. Boxes and years are one way to measure their time together, but it is the adventures and love that they hold dear. Recently, Jetgirl took a leap and left her real jet job to find balance, and maybe some more time to quilt.

As you might notice by the last line above, I recently made the decision to leave my full-time job. I am beyond blessed by all the encouragement and support I have received.

Another area we have been working on is my sewing room itself. Now that we have a dedicated long term storage room in the house, my fabric stash lives on its own and I have a large space for the projects that I am currently working on. This morning we were able to put up a design wall, and I was able to move some of the excess dining chairs into the fabric stash room. All in all, my sewing area is shaping up nicely – it has some photographs on the wall that I took, some mini quilts hanging, and most importantly – a big sewing table top and large floor space!

The china hutch (that I use to store my “works in progress”) and the dining table are from my paternal grandmother. All my childhood Thanksgiving meals were spent at this table, so I love getting to use it every day! My paternal grandmother hand quilted my first quilt, so I like to think that she is happy with how her furniture has been re-used.

I really need to spend some time reorganizing my fabric stash… for the most part I have them sorted by color, but I have lots of bins of random fabric assortments left over from previous projects that probably should be re-integrated into a more cohesive storage pattern.

I am excited by the changes and developments around here and looking forward to sharing more projects and ideas with you soon!
