I made the second quilt that I used while I was in college during the summer of 1999. After 3 semesters in school, I started co-oping. So Spring 1999 I lived in Hampton, VA, and worked for NASA Langely Research Center. The way co-oping is set up, I would work a semester, go to school for a semester, etc., until I graduated. That was going to be hard to accommodate with dorm room and roommate drama, so I paired up with another girl in engineering on my same co-op rotation schedule, and we decided to be roommates off-campus starting Spring 2000. Which really translated into: bigger bed! Yay! So I made this quilt and used it until I got married. It’s still one of the two quilts on my bed. I paid a quilter with a long arm to do the quilting, and there is so much material in the center of each star that she broke 10 needles quilting it for me.
